Well, a couple of days worth of recovery later and I can say I had a GREAT time on Friday night!
The turnout was a lot smaller than I expected, considering how hard we worked promoting the event, but nonetheless, we'd have needed a LOT of people to make that room feel full. Still, we had a good amount of people (mostly my friends) in and out all night, and add a few rolled out randoms to the crowd and we at least had an audience of people who appreciated the show.
As far as the show itself went, I was absolutely amazed! Lucas' set of deep prog was unreal, and with as little planning that Tyler C and I had going into the night, I was exceptionally impressed at how well we were able to play off of each other. I felt like that set, even with a couple minor hiccups, is probably one of my favorite/most fun sets to play ever. I hope the recording turned out well, if so, we'll get it hosted and post it up soon. I'll be real interested to see what the TL for our set turns out to look like, because man we were all over the place, and I think that's a major reason I think the set felt so good.
In any event, major thanks to Tyler and Lucas for making the trip up to play the event, I had a ton of fun with you guys and I hope we get the opportunity to play together again soon. And a HUGE thank you to Chris for making the 6 and a half hour drive + Friday rush hour in Chicago traffic to be here for the show. And make sure you send my thanks along to Dave as well, he was yet another sweet Purdue kid to meet. It was great to chill with all of you again, and as I said before, I hope we can all get together again soon.
Oh, and the biggest thanks of the night has to go Myra for helping soooo much with keeping me cool while we were getting everything together, thank you so much kid, you made my night wonderful!
Got some awesome pics from the night, and hopefully we'll get those posted in the next day or two.
Once again, thank you to everyone who was here for the night, I had an absolute blast. |

yeah....a few recovery days were needed :)
i had an excellent time at the show.....definately worth the trip. i expected more people...but there were plenty of people just dancing their asses off and having a good time on the floor for a good portion of the night.
i had a lot of fun spinning......the setup was great minus the muddy low-end on the monitors. rob and charley's set was great.....high energy and in your face.....
the total recording time was 3 hours and 22 minutes.....that means the last few tracks were cut off cuz my gizmo ran out of juice... :( the quality of the recording is excellent though....i'm going to try to upload the sets tomorrow @ 256kb/s mp3.
thanks to everyone who came espec. chris who came from "afar" and special thanks to rob (and myra) for organizing the event with class. and it's hard for me to think of 2 better people to spin with than rob & charley. |

Lucas, Charley, and Rob - all you guys played amazing sets. even though the crowd was small, i had an insanely fun time hearing (and watching) you guys spin. it's cool 'cause i always get to see Rob spinning at house parties for all the SP kids, but it was even more fun to have more DJs and better sound and a bigger place to party, but still keeping the same good crowd of people... and of course being able to party with TAs in Steven's Point is always a sweet thing. i hope you all had as much fun as i did!!
Charley (& Kim) - sorry i wasn't up when you guys left. i hope you had a good time and i hope the drive back was good. if we don't see you for Dekay i hope we see you again soon! btw Charley, i was telling Rob yesterday that there was one specific mix you had towards the end of the night that just tickled my ears it was so good... the mix out of "Do What You Want" into the next track (which i either forgot or wasn't able to ID)... smooooooth!
Chris - always a great time partying with the phreek! i'm glad you guys made the drive up and i hope the ride home wasn't too bad (i know there's no way i would have been able to deal with driving/riding in a car, it took me until sunday to fully recover, lol). i hope your friend Dave had a good "first experience"... can't wait to party with you again!!
Rob - you rule.

Man, I had a blast! As has been mentioned the turnout wasn't great, but that room was so big that it would've taken a huuuuuuuuuge turnout to make that place feel full.
Lucas - Great set dude, as usual your mixing was superb. I know I'll be listening to your set for a long while once it's up.
Rob - Considering we had absolutely no planning outside of naming a few tracks that we hoped to drop I'd say it went super smooth. You're track selection was teh hawtnes and I can't wait to hear our recording. It was my first time playing an extended set like that, so I may have been a bit all over the place.
Myra - Great to see you again! Sorry we didn't catch you on your way out, but if you felt like I did, you needed the sleep. That mix you mentioned was one that I actually felt reeeeeeeeally shady about. I just felt like that was a weird spot to mix out of that tune, but I guess it worked. I have absolutely no idea what track i mixed into there, my guess is the Inkfish remix of Larry Mountains 54, but I'll wait till I hear the recording to be sure.
Phreek - It was awesome you made it up man, it was good to see you again. I hope the drive home was a little quicker and I hope your recovery went well.
I also just wanna say thanks to all the kids who came out. Everyone who was there was having a blast and made me feel like a rockstar. I'd love to play in the Point again anytime. |

What can I say... I would have driven up even if there wasn't a party. Even if there wasn't a great turnout, like Rob said on Friday, all of the right people came. The drive home ended up taking about the same amount of time, maybe a about 30 min shorter, but we avoided $3.50 in tolls we would have paid had we taken the same route back.
Rob and Myra - It's always a blast hanging out with you guys. I don't think I can ever miss a chnace to see my favorite TAs. PARTY IN THE D OVER WINTER BREAK!!!
Charlie & Kim - It was great seeing you guys again. It's been a long time since Addiction and I hope our paths cross again in the near future.
Lucas - I was there for about half of your set, and WOW! Right on for getting everything setup at the house while we went back to Rob's.
Rob and Tyler C tore it up all night and Lucas's set was superb as always. I'll definitely ben looking forward to listening to the sets once they're up. |
