Ferry really made my night by playing Force of Gravity (it was the reason I bought his CD).

I got molested by 2 bisexual girls during the course of the night and Curly didn't save me, despite my pleas for help. :(

oh man i was not about to take one for the team. that one chick had dentures or something. LOL.

Victor played some of these tracks:

The Drill - The Drill
Departure - Without you near
Perasma - Swing 2 Harmony (Deserves an effort mix)
Airwave - Last flight to gaia
Sasha - Xpander
D:Fuse - living the dream
Purple Haze - Adrenaline

one of the best club nights i have ever had and it was at avalon of all places. the vibe of most of the people was great, so many ta's and nice people. i got to celebrate my birthday with about 1500 people( i guess that's how many people can fit in there) and had the time of my life! got there right around 9:30 and got in line with tiggo, clovis, michelle and the crew. waited very little and got right in, very nice! many thanks and gratitude victor for the comp, nice birthday treat. then went right to the dance floor for probably one of victor's best sets i have heard yet. dude, you were worried for what? i told you you would step up to the plate and haven't let us down yet, you had the crowd rockin and gave ferry a complete run for his money. oh and btw, one of the coolest jestures ever, my favorite song right at midnight when it became officially my birthday. i was over in the corner with tiggo, simon and the crew so we could do a whole happy birthday thing and then all of a sudden i hear without you near and i literally bounce front and center of the dance floor and i look up and see victor saying this is for you, super birthday gift, i danced my ass off to victor's set and it got better and better with each track! rockin set victor, great vibe and as usual you looked like you were having the time of your life!

then ferry got up there and who knew we would be in store for a nearly 6 hour set! my first long set by a single dj! i had such an amazing time dancing to his set. i liked that he wished me a happy birthday from the sign i made and totally cool all the birthday wishes i got from the dance floor at avalon. yes a few annoying people but on the whole one of the best crowds i have experienced at avalon! and it was wicked crowded! i could barely move when i needed to move about but it was all good! i saw so many ta's and met quite a few more. plus i saw tons of people club friends and made many more that night. loved hanging out with all you guys, so glad dan and lisa were there, thank you victor, and all the usual suspects, curly, tiggo, clovis, carrie, michelle, kris, mike, bob, eric, simon, julia, scotty, jessie, and many more i am way too tired to list, very soon, must find bed, no sleep at all last night due to the fun afterhours get together at bob's, thank you for that, loved the continued music and dancing and thank you mike for all the cd's, already loving G&D bloom.

thank you to all of you for making it such a wonderful birthday, one i will never forget. doesn't get much better than great djs, great music, chill vibe and dancing all night long! and that is what sums up last night!

Alright... I got some props from my last review for Blank n Jones so I figured I'd follow up with this one from last night:

First off... I walked away from Avalon this morning with one general thought in my head: I am now a believer. The EDM scene here is more than I had ever imagined. This is something to really be proud of.

Things were quiet when we first got to Avalon, but I think by 11 the crowd was starting to pack it in pretty tight.. I like to introduce myself to the bartender catering to my (enormous) tab... but this guy said he wasn't telling me his name.. which i can understand he doesn't want people yelling at him.. whatever.

Mr. Dinaire's set I found to be extrememly well executed... Nice job. A great progression to set up Ferry. This is only my second time hearing Victor, but i'm still impressed.. I think the opening/closing slot is the toughest spot to play (or at least in my experience). Recognized a lot of the Armada music family tunes.. always a crowd pleaser. I'm still jamming his XM CD on the way to work. I tried to introduce myself chat afterwards in the bar right off to the side, but he was a little busy.. that's alright.

Ferry Corsten: What can I say... I'm so proud of the way his career is going. It wasn't long ago he was playing to small crowds, or opening for headliners... and look at him now. If there's one thing I can say about FC.. it's that I admire his enthusiasm. I think you can tell that he's there to really rock out and make sure everyone has a great time. I tried to keep chats short behind the booth, but as always, he's so friendly and willing to talk. At 5am or whenever they shut down the house main system, and he turned the booth speakers towards the crowd... that might have been the coolest thing I ever saw. He would have played till noon i think. He played most of the signature tracks I was expecting: Force of Gravity, Rock Your Body Rock to name a few...
When we left at 6:00-ish it seemed to me like the crowd was still pretty thick. That impressed me a ton.

We headed to Bob Motamedi's to hang out and jam some tunes over at his place... It was greating seeing some more familiar faces there, and meeting some new ones :-)

Many thanks to Carrie for takin me out again, and my Chicago buddy Alana for kickin' it...

My new place is in Sherman Oaks right off the 101.. i'd certainly entertain having some peeps over for some afterhours action sometime!

See you at Armin!

Wow, some great reviews for Ferry! Now wished I would've went...saw him at the Love Parade Afterparty but this sounded like a much more "intimate" night. ;) I really think the Nederlander DJ's are some of the nicest in the world, and my friends who live in NL are also the best...makes me want to move to Holland, but then guess it wouldn't be so special that they're all coming here, would it?! :conf:

When I read a review like Michelle's, it makes me want to give major props to the DJ, so I shall be listening to Ferry spin again soon! :D

Haha same thing happened to me on another night... I was like fine, the other, friendlier bartenders can get my business then :p

What a mind- of a club-experience last night was. Ferry tore Avalon apart in so many pieces it's simply unfathomable. Five hours of non-stop intensity by the "Flying Dutchman" is everything and more I could have wanted from this pioneer of electronic music. Greets go out to the regulars: Michelle and Kris (meow!), Carrie, Curly, DJFaded (Mike), great to finally meet you, Clovito: your energy and passion is something that always brings a smile to my face, Tigo the wild tiger, Rick, Danny "Pro Logic" and his lovely wife, you guys are two of the most decent, kind-hearted and geniune people I have met, Rocky and Bullwinkle -- tell Electrophile to save up his damn money! -- Lomeli, Miss Julia: thanks for the hook-up, you're a sweetheart. Victor Dinaire for playing an awesome set.. and whomever else I may have omitted.
Greets from Refuge:
Signing-off,
Rez

P.S. I dig Clovis' hair-do: he really resembles Josh Wink in my opinion

this guy in the picture got owned by my right metal elbow. he probably has a huge bruise on the side of his head. thats what he gets for being inconsiderate.

then this couple were so ed up that arfboy, curly and i were snapping so many pictures of them, it looked like the papparazzi taking photos of famous people. at one point they were trying to hide their faces from our cameras. hahahhaha! ******s.

another point in the night was when i heard a girl's voice coming from the back "help me! help me! ewww, ewww, ewww!!!" it turned out neinerlove was getting chased and groped by this perverted, short little asian bag. so i pushed him away and gave him a pissed off look. there he goes.

btw, victor's set was in dark! need a playlist please!

O! And I think Ferry played some remix of Petter - These days. Same tune in the Above & Beyond essential mix.
