"How Quickly Do the Benefits of Quitting Start?"
* "Just 20 minutes after your last cigarette, your blood pressure and
pulse rate drop to normal and the body temperature of your hands and
feet increases to normal."
* "A mere 8 hours after your last smoke, the carbon monoxide level
decreases and the oxygen level in your blood increases to normal."
* "Just 24 hours after your last cigarette, you substantially lessen
your chances of having a heart attack."
* "Two days after your last cigarette, you will notice that your
ability to taste and smell is enhanced."
* "Three days later, your breathing should be noticeably better
because your lung capacity will be greater."
* "Your circulation will improve and your lung functioning will
increase up to 30% within two weeks to three months after quitting."
* "Between one month and nine months, the cilia in your lungs will
regenerate, allowing your body to clean your lungs and reduce
infection."
* "One year after quitting, your risk of coronary heart disease is
half that of a smoker."
* "Five years after quitting, your risk of stroke is reduced to that
of a nonsmoker."
* "Ten years after quitting, the lung cancer death rate is about half
that of a continuing smokers. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat,
esophagus, bladder, kidney and pancreas decreases."
* "Fifteen years after quitting, your risk of coronary heart disease
is that of a nonsmokers.

however, for people like me with problems with depression...
| quote: | An even more important reason for the link between depression and smoking may stem from the pleasure that smoking can bring. As Dr. Fowler's research suggests, smoking triggers higher dopamine levels in the brain; elevated levels of dopamine have been linked to feelings of well-being and pleasure and have been found in users of heroin and cocaine. Such emotions may be particularly welcome by individuals suffering from depression. Interestingly, newer antidepressants such as phenelzine sulfate act as MAO inhibitors and help regulate dopamine levels.
The link between depression and nicotine raises critical red flags for physicians helping depressed patients stop smoking. Dr. Glassman warned that these individuals, for example, successfully quit about half as often as non-depressed smokers and are two-and-a-half times more likely to become depressed when they do eventually quit. In addition, Dr. Glassman said that these patients can develop major depression when their nicotine levels drop too dramatically. Even when placed on nicotine patches, he explained, some depressed patients become suicidal because their nicotine levels drop too quickly. As a result, some patients require antidepressants in addition to nicotine replacement therapy. |

best remedy is to take yoga and buy yourself a Costco-size pack of mentos. the fruity flavored ones and not the original ones. |

Remember...
Failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning. It takes great delight in tripping one when success is almost within reach.
All thoughts which have become emotionalised, and mixed with faith, begin immeadiatly to translate into their physical equivilant or counter-part.
Desire outwits Mother Nature.
