Recommend me an awesome GSM mobile phone

It seems that the old TOTA wireless thread has been pruned from the database (I can't find it for the life of me, unless I'm retarded). In addition, from that thread I realize there are an awful lot of you here who are quite astute when it comes to this stuff.
My contract with Bell bility is up in 2 months, and I'm gonna switch to Rogers/Fido because I'm a) sick of being dicked around by Bell, b) sick of billing ups, c) sick of talking to their "customer service" d) everybody says GSM is superior to CDMA in pretty much every way.
As such I'm lookin for a kickin' rad new mobile. I've currently got a Kyocera SE47 Slider, and I love the slider design. Now it doesn't have to be a slider phone, it can be bar, flip, slide, twist, whatever.
Here are my requirements for a phone:
- Must have a camera, with at least 1.3MP resolution.
- Must have a card slot for memory expansion (Memory Stick, CompactFlash, SD, etc.)
- NOT a PDA/smartphone thing
- Not huge like a Motorola walkie-talkie circa the Korean War era
- Not 32 billion dollars
I've got a Sony digital camera that uses Memory Stick Duo and have a few kickin' around, so bonus points for a Sony Ericsson phone.
At the moment I'm looking at the Sony Ericsson Z800/V800/802, S710i, and the upcoming Samsung D510. They seem to have pretty much what I want, but I'm sure there are better options for the price ($300-400 or so).
My original lust was for the Samsung D500 but it has no card slot, and the D600 is stupidly high priced at the moment.

What was so important about that again, indoor reception was it?
Also what is UMTS? Apparently the V800 can use UMTS network stuff... |

not necessarily that GSM is better, but Bells implementation of CDMA sucks.

| Check out the Sony Erricson T750i (i think thats what it is). Has a 2 MP cam and other goodies. A buddy here on my team has it and its pretty sweet. |

There are 3 GSM phones out there that have really caught my attention.
Motorola Razr V3... yeah I know everyone has one, but its a damn good phone.
Motorola V80... sweet phone, and its got the rotating faceplate.
Samsung D500... its the only decent slider out there

forget that T750i....its actually K750i and its a good phone but apparently its only tri band so it doesn't support the 850 and its fairly expensive.
another nice one i saw at Vodafone here was the Motorola v1050. Has a 1.3 MP cam, mp3 player, memory flash, etc, but once again it lacks the 850.
My RAZR worked great at home and it works great here but it doesnt have memory flash. |
