my friend lived in australia for two years. he got stopped 11 times to do a breathalyzer at all parts of the day. they have RIDE programs 24/7 and can stop you at any time. you get stopped driving to work in the morning to do a breathalyzer!

being from adelaide i can vouch for this. they are call RBT Units (Random Breath Testing) they are out ANY time any day of the week and can be anywhere!!! on the weekends they cover most exits from the downtown.

As they say in the TV ad's "there is no escaping the net, drink drive and youll be sorry!!"

Also let me straighten something out!! Australia is following canadas lead on smoking. they are already into stage 2 of the transition with partial smoking bans. within the next year you wont be able to smoke anywhere but outside in australia.

and i say thank god for that. i work as a bartender and i hate my hair, clothes, skin reeking of smoke. same when i go clubbing. so much nice going out in canada.

haha lol that will never happen. you can get a licence to serve alcohol for anytime of the day!!!

we have nightclubs that are still open and serving alcohol till noon on the sunday from the sat night. :eyes:

oh and people can drink in the car. even the driver as long as he/she is not over 0.05. my father used to have a couple of beers on the drive home from work lol. sorry to make you feel worse. :p

Smokers have the right to smoke when doing so does not infringe on the health of the people around them.

My head is going to spin if we have the smoking debate again.

i gotta admit it does suck that the bars like close at 2am. most of my friends on a sat night dont go out till late. its a shock to the system going home so early.

canada should definately off this last call .

we should also off with the no drinking in public ...

i love having a smirnoff ice on a hot day at the beach. why should that be illegal?
TCB
i agree with the smoking ban and being able to drink on the beach!!.

however, being a nonsmoker myself i am loving it here, i can acutally breath and smell things when i go out. actually feel a little better when i get home.

i honestly couldnt wait for the aussie smoking bans to come into effect. but i came here and i got a early taste.

within the short term future i can see it become a more worldly trend.

i like the fact that clubs are smokefree as well. Please dont get me wrong. Im a non smoker too. But the way they have imposed it on everyone is what im against. Why not let business owners decide? now its impacting clubs. Ive seen it myself. On nice days people hit the patios and the superclubs are half full. Not only that but this opens the door to other government controls.

And what about those people who have invested 100s of thousands in DSRs only to be told that they too are suddenly illegal?

Its really stupid....

treat adults like adults please3!

I'd like to know how these ppl arrive at these conclusions. Is there a formula or do they just ring up their mates and ask for opinions?
