Dane fights for state-funded sex

A disabled Danish man is fighting for the state to pay for him to have a prostitute visit him at home.

Well, even though it's funny, the problem is quite legitimate.

There are lots of men, disabled or not, who for some reason or other can't get laid. What if they're ugly? Or, suppose they've had several girlfriends, but each one of those GFs insisted on a commited relationship and marriage, and the man honestly told them that he wasn't ready and was just looking for a light relationship. And he just couldn't find a girl who shared his wish for a purely physical relatinship.

See, the vast majority of young women will refuse to have sex unless there is the possibility of commitment etc. When a woman gets older, she starts viewing sex as a physical need just like men.

Anyway, the whole point of this, there are many males who for certain reasons can't get this need satisfied, and this affects the general population in a very negative way. Irritability, depression, and aggressive behavior result.

Plus it's unfair. Why should a universal need, similar to eating and being able to urinate, be allowed to some people as a privilege, but denied to others? Especially given the fact that nobody forces these women to become prostitutes in Denmark and Germany, they do it of THEIR OWN FREE WILL. The vast majority.

The thing I found funny was that he was insisting on the state paying for it. That's all. While true that a reasonable amount of sex in ones life may be a good/healthy, it's not like you can't survive without it (since you made the anology of needs such as food, urinating etc). So I really wouldn't call it a "need." If you haven't gotton any in a while, exert some self-control. Look at the shaolin monks, never had sex EVER and they're doing just fine (plus, many people don't before marriage, they don't flip out and become a danger to society or themselves).

That's what YOU think.

You have no idea how this issue is ruining their lives and the lives of those around them. Because they have issues, they seek religion or some other pursuit as a crotch. Society degenerates into crime and depression.

Human beings are programmed to reproduce. There's a reason why Sex is #4 on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. When did you take your psychology 101 class? Do you remember that Sex comes even before Love and Self-Actualization? It's second only to air, food, and water.

To believe that a human's sexual need is not as extreme as food or water is naive x100. Any specialist or psychologist will tell you otherwise. Otherwise the whole field of psychology and Maslow's chart would be a laughingstock.

You're right in what you say, which is why people who are generally religious (in the true sense of the word) and practicing Christians/Muslims/Jews, generally tend to get married at much earlier ages. That takes care of that need + others (such as companionship etc).

When they don't, then yes, you're right, it does create problems for them and those around them.

If it's the danish policy to pay for all the extra costs for disabled ppl, he should be paid for extra costs of this too. Can't see why not.

Anyway, pretty cool if he would get a state funded prostitute :toocool:

you might need sex to have a healthier psyche, but you certainly don't need it to have it to survive. that's why it's ludicrous to compare it with the necessity for food.

I can't believe you people are having a serious debate about this.

Somehow, I don't think I'd want to see a 'state-funded' protitute... :nervous: :nervous:

Ah. The BBC broke my story - I told them it was confidential.

Anyway, this is yet another example of danes expecting the state to provide *every god damn thing* for them. Sex is nowhere near as essential to living as food, water, social contacts, and domiciles. Handicapped people get loads of money from the state in Denmark (my cousin is severely handicapped, and he gets 24 hours supervision, a free car, lifetime pension, all accessories he need, and he still lives at home), and they should be able to afford sex just as well as any other person.

Damn looks like the Danes get a lot of nice things from big brother. I am just kinda curious how does he get it up?

Read the article.

He is not asking for the state to pay for the sex, he is asking them to pay for the call girls' transportation to his home because he is unable to go to them. He is already paying for the sex himself, he just wants the difference between what a healthy person would pay (going to the prostitute) and what he pays. Which is, as far as I can tell from what the article says about Danish disability rights law, what the law says it will provide for.

If you are going to comment on the issue, please read the whole article and not just the headline. I saw the headline and thought it would be pretty funny. I found it to be more sad than anything. I can't say I support his position ethically/morally but legally speaking, he is by no means out of line asking for this.
