Stan... I agree, except you're giving him too much credit... CDJ's are so much easier to use as far as mixing tracks goes... no excuse there Tijs... I'll give him time to learn how to loop that , but cueing and beatmatching... Please. Cool though that he's working on it. DH:cool:

I guess that's all opinion... if it's hard as nuts for Tijs, then all I can conclude is that it's different, not easier... maybe for you it's easier because you're more used to it.

there are some aspects of vynil that are way easier... like for example you can drop the needle wherever you want.. the pitch slider is easier to handle... ect ect

stuff that are easier in CDjs are perfect cueing.. and on and on.

Apparenlty Tiesto has gotten the hang of it by now, because his recent TMF powermix, where he looped a bar off Adagio for Strings and mixed in Lethal Industry was massive.

lol @ too much credit... :D

i was careful in the response, cause i did not want everyone to jump me. Yeah cdjs are definitely easier, and if you're in vinyl mode, the transition to them will be also easier.

if you imply mixing, then there is no excuse. i think for #1 dj in the world it should be a piece of cake. if you imply tricks 'n loops, then maybe.

agree with the needle drop (although i never had to drop it somewhere
in the middle of the track, if it is an unusual intro, you can fast-forward it in the vinyl mode very easily). don't agree with pitch slider. if you have something like .02% pitch increments, it doesn't really matter. even then you can easily adjust your mix with the jog dial, which is way painless as compared to adjusting vinyl.

As for the pitch slider... the one in a turntable is a bit easier for me than the one in a typical Pioneer CDj, however there are some CD decks like the ones Denon or Numark make which the pitch slider is far easier to control than Pioneer, in my opinion.

just caught that. he still plays those two tunes? tijs, let them rest in peace. :wtf:
gerrycueto
well if you made them, then you'd be playing em still ;)

kinda like how Paul still plays For An Angel (1994).... i mean come on damn.

but really i still like the fact he does still play it, people go out to hear the DJ play their own hits.

It's not as interesting as if I were to play For An Angel, I'd probably get people with a bunch of confused looks on their faces (If they knew the song of course).

im not trying to be the ultimate tiesto defender, but given that the guy has been spinning vinyl for 20+ years, it might have been a little harder for him than alot of new age djs who are more adept to todays technology. i compare it to myself to video games, i was the man at sega genesis but when playstion and x box came out, i suck, my 10 year cousin whooped my ass at NHL 2005, and i used to rock at that game!! maybe its just one of those things...

lol, easy there... :D

Not if it's played every single time. Not saying that it is a bad track, but c'mon.

Oh and regarding your other post. Tiesto is not the only one who has been spinning vinyl for ages and then adapted the new technology. For some reason I don't see others complain.

Basically Neil, whether the music is coming off a vinyl, a Denon S5000, a Pioneer CDJ1000 MK2, or a Mac... it all sounds the same in your headphones. If you mix a track and you can't tell the beat is off and adjust it... that's the DJ, not the CDJ.
hiram
lol i hope he didnt go crazy and name his own music festival
(Tiesto Music Festival)
