Let's see here. I'd say you have two kinds of happiness. Long-term and short-term, each achieved in different ways. Short-term happiness could be provided by anything to anyone. Someone might be happy if they get a small gift from a friend, and someone might not. Someone might be happy when they find a rare stamp to add to their collection, and another person hates stamps. But all of these things won't make people happy over the long-term. They provide temporary happiness.
Long-term happiness attained by emotional fufillment by way of meaningful relationships with other human beings and respect/love/esteem for oneself. The former useless without the latter, and the latter nearly impossible to feel without the former. I would say. |
