we turn 35 or 40 or 45 or something along those lines and our love for EDM doesnt change and we still want to go see our fav. DJs and still go party and still wanna dance like monkeys on crack.

For past week or so this question has been bugging me. I mean right now we all, including myself make fun of all the old folks at Guv or Viva or Republik and w0t not and say hey look Momma and Poppa out on a family outing lolz. But i mean w0t is gonna be the case when we are of their age and we wanna go party it up at a club. I do understand that most of the old folks right now probably have no clue w0t kinda tunes they are listening to or who is playing they are just there to get their freak on but hey alot of the TOTA folks would know w0t tunes are being played and stuff.

I can totally see alot of us telling our kids hey dont listen to fiddy cent or w0tever hip hop junk but heres AVB's new CD go nuts lolz. What i am trying to say or ask here is that when we are a bit of age and we still wanna party are we gonna be laughed at and made fun of as well by the " younger generation "? Is it gonna be wrong for me to be 45 or 50 yrs old and showing up at a club to hear some tunes and dance it up with the more ' hip ' people. What are your thoughts opinions and what not.....

Most of us outgrow trance after 5 years or less, so I don't think you need to worry. ;) :p

Anyway, if the current trend continues then the music you're referring to is probably going to be mainstream by then, so once again I don't think you need to worry.

5 yrs ?? hmmm its been over 9 yrs now and i dont think i have outgrown from Trance or any other EDM style i like to listen. If anything i am more into it than before. You are right the current style may go mainstream but still parts of it or maybe something new will still be somewhat only club type or underground or w0tever you wanna call it. Its not that i am worried about anything lolz its just something that has been on my mind and stuff thats all :tongue2

As a 34 yr old who still goes out clubbing w/no intent of slowing down anytime soon (gasp!!!) I dont feel 'laughed at' when I'm at a club. In fact, most youngins always say they wanna 'be like me' when they grow up. I think the problem you're referring to is the obviously older people (closer to the 50+ yr mark, who are often also off their heads on drugs, or obviously nerdy/ or out of place older types). I'm lucky that I look far younger than my age. There are some others on here that are around the 40+ yr old mark, but they all have a youthful appearance, dress & attitude.

On the flipside, I dont even have an "I've been clubbing since you were in kindergarden" elitist attitude either, which is true, given the age difference I have w/many of my clubbing peers. Now, if some nouveau punk rocker gave me some attitude, I'd have to throw that line at them. Nothing made me chuckle more than standing in line at Canada's Wonderland next to some 18 yr old nouveau-punks wearing their pre-fab punk outfits, knowing they weren't even BORN when I was out in the mosh pit (and I was 2nd-generation punk in the 80's, and here we are 20 yrs later....).

you are 34 ??? holy fawk !!! and here i was thinking hey Nat is w0t maybe 25 or 26 lolz. but yes very well said Nat ... i totally agree with the part that attitude and how you carry / present yourself will probably play a big part into this. Unluckily i am on the other side of the age thingy lolz i am 27 but look 37 and act like 17 lolz.

You know what Tyler? Sure we make fun of those guys...but do you really think it affects their clubbing experience? Probably not. They still have a good time and enjoy the music and the dancing.
You're probably right in that when we get to be their age, we'll know a lot more about the music than they do now...which would make our club experiences that much better, regardless of how old we are. So what if we're made fun of by the younger generation. I could care less. I'm having a good time and that's that.
I've met a number of older people during my clubbing days, and I don't really judge them b/c they're older. I'm not gonna lie, I have made comments like you say "ma and pa at the bars" and crap. But I've actually sat down to talk to a few of them, and they're not so bad.
My point is, regardless of what the younger generations will say about us clubbing when we're older...screw it, I'm not here to impress them or make new friends (atleast if they don't want to). I'm there for the music!

I'll be happy to live to that age!

That was more of a joke than anything else. Listen to whatever music and go to whatever events get your groove on.

Nat pointed out the most important thing, which is that the only old guys who get "laughed at" at clubs are the cracked-out douchebags who are only there as an excuse to do drugs. There are lots of older people on Tranceaddict, and I've met lots of older people at clubs, and neither I nor anyone else I know has a problem with them, because they're there for the same reason we are - to meet people and have fun.

However, if you're 55 years old and you go the Guvernment every Saturday night, head straight over to the couches on the stage and proceed to eat pills like M&Ms and snort coke all night, then you deserve to be laughed at.

you know Tyler.. there is nothing wrong with being in your 30's-40's+ and still out clubbing.. hell all the power to anyone who is still out doing their thing as they get older...

Personally for me... I have been looking at my life lately.. and looking at just how much money I spend on partying and everything else to go along with it.. and it isn't that my love for the music is changing.. it is the fact that I don't want to be going to clubs every weekend for the rest of my life.. as much as I may enjoy it..and we all know how good I am at partying.. hehe..I want to pay off my debts and move to Europe which I had originally planned to do a couple years ago.. and in order to succeed, things are going to be changing for me!

But don't get me wrong.. while I am at home and partying less.. I will still be saving up for our Summer 2006 trip to Amsterdam and Ibiza... I will be damned if I am missing out on that ..hahahah :p

You guys are 100 % right no argument there. i myself have no problem with being 40 or 50 and going nuts whenever Christopher Lawrence comes to town or something ( hopefully CL still be rippin it up on dance floors ). And i am even more happy to see and know that i wont be alone out there. All you crazy laddies will right along with me lolz. w0000000000000t :toocool:

MLB
well i still love the music, just despise the club scene , i get tired very easy and i end up leaving early most of the time, but i still like the music and good people to party with.

but yeah i dont think i will listening to this stuff when i am older.
