yea i know right...lol
i think the only time the tab should be mentioned in a bday dinner party invitation, is if it was at some really expensive place and/or if you were picking up the tab...u know cuz people who aren't rich might see where it's at and think, "! i can't afford that place" so i mean yea, if i had like 1500 bucks to drop on it, i would mention that it's paid for. but i just think everyone should assume they are going to at least pay for themselves...the only people i would expect to pick up my dinner would be like my bf and mom or something... |

Brent, I think you were using my flag the first time I pmed you, weren't you? Like geez, ages ago?
:D
Jamie, if you're worried that a couple of people might not understand that they're paying their own share, just say "hey, we'll all treat the Birthday Boy."
We do it all the time. If there's 20 of us (including the one who's having the birthday), we just take the tab add for tip and divide by 19. No one has ever been surprised. |

don't assume either way coz someone always ends up getting screwed (and i'm not talking the happy buttsex0r kind either). |

these are my friends, yes, but i mean not my BEST BEST friends...i only have one best friend whom i've known since 4th grade. all these other friends i've only known for the past year or 2 and we just go clubbing together all the time in south beach...it's like my "crew". i wouldn't expect them to know my birthday and go out of their way to plan this dinner for me and pay. i mean, yea that's the kind of friend i am and i would certainly do that for my good friend, but i'm sure no one would think to do this. especially cuz my bday is the day after halloween, so everyone gets all wrapped up in that...
i just wanted it to be like a, "hey come join me for dinner in celebration for my birthday...bring whoever you want, the more the merrier" type of thing...i don't really give a ...i just want some good company on my birthday and some good food. i think it would be understood that i'm not picking up the tab for everyone since i'm not really known for having a load of money or anything... |
then that is fine, just be clear and state your birthday is coming up and you want to grab something to eat with a few people. Maybe some people won't even be able to make it (not a big deal I'm sure). keep it as a casual invite with reason to eat (bday) just as if you were to grab a bite with anyone else. I'm sure its all understood if you don't emphasize your bday as the main reason for the dinner although duely note it to entice people to join. I'm sure everyone is more than expected upon to pick up their own tab, if not then on the spot (when the tab comes at the end) if they expect to be paid for you should cordially pull them aside and say to them i sorta expected everyone to pull their own weight, it wasn't something that i wanted to pay for everyone...afterall it is your birthday and they should be considerate (friend or acquaintance).
it's your day to shine remember that...you get what you want for once lols - i say this cuz i often find myself giving to others more than myself, but i fear not...next week is my day and those bastards of friends deserve payback! remember its your day...have a great meal you deserve it...i know i will hehe |

| i just realized that it's going to be like all guys and maybe 2 girls...:wtf: maybe i shouldn't do that. i hate it that i only have a couple of girlfriends. i need more girlfriends. i aways meet girls and exchange phone numbers, but nothing ever becomes of it. and if something DOES become of it, i usually discover that they're really ing annoying or something and we stop hanging out. |

generally speaking...yes, this is very true. i don't hate all girls though. for some reason, the older i get, the harder it is to get some good friends going. i have no problem making them, it's keeping them that's difficult for some reason.

| no i agree with you slylee...it's hard for me to keep friends these days too...i think maybe it's because we're more independent the older we get and friends need to fit into our routine more...and when they don't...well then we can't be arsed.. |

yea i guess that's why. and i also hate it when like one of your friends gets a bf/gf and they stop hanging out. i used to do that, but not any more. i've been hanging out with craig a lot but only to save money...i keep calling up my friend roxanne to do a girls night but we just play phone tag...she has a man now and she never calls me back like she used to. so i have to invite her and her man out or else she won't call back. :wtf: |
