I hope that 9/11 was the worst event that I will ever live through, and I truly hope that people will stop hating each other, and there can be peace. |
Not with a guy named George at the helm... |

I liked the quote by Guiliani when he says
" if you censor it too much, if you try to find too many euphemisms for what happened, then I think you rob people of the ability to relive it and motivate them to prevent it from happening again" |
I gotta say I like his quote, but I dont trust him for . |

I was in the 3rd month of my first proper fulltime job as a programmer back in South Africa, and my mate sent me a text telling me to turn on the tv or radio if we had one in the office.
We only had a radio so we turned that on and listened in horror.
My mate who was watching tv at home, had it on mute while he was mixing, and said when he saw footage of the first plane hitting he thought it was a trailer for a new movie or something.

Probably a little more esxtreme than most of your experiences.. except for those living in new york.
i was in quito ecuador, and all of the sudden the emergency bell rang because apparently a bomb threat was called in, which didnt happen often but still happened, and so they took out whole school, k-12, onto the soccer field in the morning, nice and shady.. and were just kciking it, while they bring the dogs in for teh bomb etc etc etc..
then all the sudden my freind got a call from his parents on his cel phone, his parents were in the embassy and he told us the news. we went nuts, we literally thought like 10s of thusands of people were going to die.
then everyone was on eht phone the they dismissed school early and we went across the road to a lil corner store that had a tv on, we ewatched and couoldnt believe what was going on.
me my bro and a couple freinds who got a ride with us finally got home and just watched the tv for the rest of the day, shocked.
then someone called in another bomb threat the next day. everyone was on their toes... |

I was at high school, we went through the day as normal for the first two periods or so, and than I heard from someone else that a plane had crashed into lower manhattan. So than there are all type of rumors goin around caus the school decided not to really tell people what was going on so as to not cause a panic I guess. But all morning over the loud speaker they were calling out kids names to come to the office, caus their parents were coming to get them.
We were all just going to class like normal and some teachers were talking about it and some weren't, some were crying. At lunch it was crazy, one of my close friend's father was a fireman and i think many of his company died, but he was late to work or something and didn't make in time before they left, many many other people had parents in that worked in the city as well. Eventually, my dad came and got me and we werent sure if my mom was ok at first since she works in manhattan, and driving back toward my house I could see the huge cloud of smoke in the sky. It was truly terrifying. I mean it was one thing to see it on tv, but to actually see it so close to home....
The hate these individuals had for people they never even met before is incomprehensible. |

I bought a cd earlier that day and already listened to it (tool-salival)
It was 3.30 pm here, and i was playing some game on my computer and listeining to radio, when the girl dj said that a plane had crashed into the world trade center. I remembered, that such thing has happened before to the Empire state bulding like in the 30's, but i thought i'll watch it later in the news. Some time later she announced that a second plane had crashed and that we should turn our TV on, cause we are clearly witnessing history in the making, so rushed to the TV of course (and was glued to is for the next couple of days) i also remember messaging my buddy to turn the TV on, he's like : what channel ? i'm like ANYONE. Then my mom came back from work and she didn't know what had happened yet before i showed her the TV broadcast. I also turned the record button on my vcr to record some of those events (i can't bring myself to watch that tape again)

I was painting my bedroom & I had a text message off a mate, it just seemed so surreal that I disregarded it until I turned the tv on. I can always remember swampers bulletin about it on the ta main page, began with
and I always considered that so true. |

Not a problem. If anyone needs the video uploaded again, please PM me or post here and I'll upload it again later today. This video has obviously been out for a few years but only recently was I able to encode it. |

if im 20 now i cant even remember how many years ago it was, was it three?
got in from college, saw it on the tv and asked my dad what it was all about anyway, he explained a bit, then i thought ', bloody arabs'.
then i went on with my day.
edit: i feel rather insensitive not saying how much i hated it but it just didnt really bother me that much at all. it was bad, but didnt effect me in the slightest. maybe money poured into war and not into other things the UK needs, but thats the only slight effect :/ |

I was doing my A-Levels at the time. I remember finishing for the day, and one of my mates girlfriends came into the Maths department and said (with a strangly happy smile on her face I might add) that the twin towers had been bombed. So we ran down to the 6th Form common area and whacked the radio on.
I got home at about 4:30pm (GMT) and saw my mum on the phone to my nan, and these images of the towers collapsing on the TV. It was so eerie.
The sad thing is, I didn't really feel the same about the London bombings of 7/7, even though I'm english. It's a sad fact, but the more these things happen, the less people are going to be affected by it. |
