I know there was a thread just done on EDM with hip-hop lyrics, but Im looking for more of a hip-hop influence in the instrumentals of an EDM song. Massive Attack & Mos Def- I Against I take the cake in this one, but Im wondering if anybody knows of some other stuff.

I realize this site is called trance addict, but surely you guys must listen to other genres of edm.

So you want stuff like:

Leftfield/Bambaataa - Afrika Shox?

Yeah, that is what I'm looking for, although I only mildly like that song for some reason. Another good example that I can find is N.E.R.D.- Lapdance (Oakenfold Swordfish Mix).

uhhhhh....

Why don't you just listen to electro?

Well I do. I just enjoy a hip hop influence on it at times. :conf:

Look for "Schiller". The style of Schiller is a little bit difficult to define for me (Electro?). Anyway, they just released tracks with the voice of "Thomas D" (a hip-hop singer). Just look for it. But be warned: the whole thing is in german...

Lessee...

Uberzone featuring Afrika Bambaataa - 2 Kool 4 Skool
Afrika Bambaataa featuring Gary Numan - Metal
Afrika Bambaataa featuring Alien Ness - 2137
Afrika Bambaataa featuring TC Izlam - Almighty Ra
A Homeboy, A Hippie & A Funki Dredd - Total Confusion '98 (Done And Dusted Mix)
Masta Killa - Digi Warfare (trust on this one!)

ummm...do you even know what electro is?

Somewhere, Kurtis Mantronix is hurling things at people.

dude, you have an entire site devoted to educating people(correctly or incorrectly) on EDM. don't just sit there and act like a guru, ask some thought provoking questions so he knows what else is out there.

I'm sorry if my labeling is a bit off and that created some confusion, but I provided two very specific songs, which I think describe the sound I am looking for very well. I just heard this label be used on an internet site that was reviewing I Against I, I liked it so I used it.

I couldn't find the Schiller song, I thought the Masta Killa song was dull and repetitive, and I have yet to check out the Afrika Bambaataa stuff, although of most of the stuff I have heard from them, I have been pretty bored. Anyways, I appreciate the suggestions, keep them comming.
