Mothers Music Promotion

For the longest time now, I have been mentioning on the forums here that I do certain orders on the side for a record store out on Long Island. Particularly orders in Trance, Techno, House and the sub genres of each. This store is Mothers Music. This store is also in conjunction with another called Abracadabra which specializes in DJ Equipment and Accessories. So it’s kind of like a 2-for-1 store. I felt like promoting this store because they have stuff that everyone would like in my opinion. Very few people are unaware that this store exists. And They also carry really good stuff that just becomes a waste and no one buys them. They even restock the same titles on more than one occasion, unlike some stores out in the city. They also carry Domestic titles such as Hip-hop, Tribal and pretty much any other genre that you desire. Even the old school 90s House & pop music. From CDs to Vinyl, they have it. Currently the manager is working on getting a website up for the store, so there is none for now. On to the specifics!

Orders

The main topic of the whole promotion is the ordering. The store gathers the music from Watts Music (http://www.wattsmusic.com) which is the only distributor they use at the moment. That doesn’t mean we can’t get stuff from other websites! By looking on the website, you can go on advanced search and look for a release by inputting the detailed information (Artist Name, Title, Year, etc.) Unfortunately, if your not a retailer, you cannot find out if the record is in stock or not. At that point you will have to contact the store (Check under “Contact Us” below) to find out if it is in stock. If it is, we can then go ahead and order the release for you. So if it isn't on watts, let me know if the product has been released already, and we can then special order it for you. Also there is no cost to have something ordered or to keep something aside for you. We get new shipments every Friday. So in case your busy during most of the week, Friday and going into the weekend is your best bet for the new stuff.

Prices

I really dont pay too much attention to all the prices of most genres. The prices can range anywhere from $2.99 (Old Skool Records) to $11.99 (Imports, 2x12s, CDs, Domestic Titles, Hip-hop & R&B Titles, etc.)

for those that are in LI and especially the ones that are close to this store, i recommend you guys to check it out. i honestly live too far to trek out there, but for the ones in that area, its def. worth it.. i had a chance to meet the owner and spoke to him for a few and can tell right away, that hes in it for the love of music.. lets get real, nowadays, theres no way you can make a fortune by running a independent record store... because of all the mp3 explosion, not as many ppl are buying actual cds or records, and if they do, the big chain stores got it pretty much monopolized... so +1 to big mike's intentions, go support your local record stores.

Especially since there's people out on Long Island that might order stuff online or head out to the city to buy recs, missing this place completely.
sot

The store that I've been going to for almost 2 years is now closing it's doors on April 30th.

I'm a bit pissed because now I'm forced to buy records online, but I did the best I could to get some people to come around this store.

Currently the store manager is selling the records on ebay. I'll see if I can get some links as to what records are being put up.
