2000 tommy sounds pretty cool to me...i think worring about a name is dumb because there are so many dj's out there who have stupid dj names anyways. there is one kid who calls himself dj yellow snow...

BWAHAHAHAHA.... THat's what I said on the other the thread.... and that's exactly what's happening too... lol....

It's stupid. Everyone pressures u to get a DJ name too. THe worst ppl, are the ones who really suck, and who don't play anywhere, but come up with a name for themselves before they even start. They don't have any interest as such in the music. It suggests they just wanna do it to be cool.

like me, I admit it, I was a stupid fool when I signed up here at TA. I thought I would be really cool if I had a dj name, I thought I would fit in or something! I have never spun, but I plan to in the future. Since then I have learned a lot more about the edm culture. I still do not know a lot but I love learning. I wish I could change my name now!

I always advise people to stay away from just using their first name and surname initial... it just seems a bit undefined to me unless you have quite an original first name (it actually took me a while to realise that the hard house dj 'Amber D' uses this naming method), particularly in your case where one of the biggest drum n bass DJs in the world shares your first name and surname initial. Come to think of it, he's one of the only top-flight DJs I can think of who uses the [firstname] [surname_inital] thing (maybe Marco V too - I'm not sure if 'V' is actually the inital of his surname) - obviously you don't have to just copy what the big names do but I think it shows that on the whole people don't seem to remember names like that very well.

Of course it depends how far you want to go with it, "Andrew C" works fine on a lower level - DJing at mates parties, little local events etc but as soon as you want to get noticed I think it can work against you.

If you've got quite a distinctive first name or surname, just that on it's own can really stand out... and if it's a bit standard but no one's used it yet, you could go for it anyway

At the end of the day, unless you can come up with something cool like "Felix Da Housecat", the most original thing you can do is use your full real name... unless your name's John Smith, in which case go for it anyway, might be able to come up with a decent marketing thing with it :D (*thinks of John Smiths stout beer adverts*)
hiram
lol my name is Hiram Suarez. i dont think any1 will remember my first name if i use it as my dj name...Hiram S.(dont think itll work)

I think just Hiram on it's own would be cool - it's short easy to pronounce, don't think people would have any trouble remembering it
Soliman
