Your DJ Name! (pg. 4)

Hi guys

Thought I would give a few ideas on this topic...

There are loads of ways to come up with names... but the real problem is just making sure its not already in use.

There is the option of using your real name which many go for. The problem here is with simply names and surnames like John Smith as someone pointed out.

The other option is just to make a name up. I know a few people who simply use a fake surname etc to add a dimension to the DJ name.

The other idea is to come up with a play on words name which can be kinda cool if you get it right. For example say you used the name Justin Case. As few friends of mine were talking about this name recently but again when searching for it on the web you will find a DJ using it. Still its a cool like idea....

Then there is using a word from another language which means something to you or something cool... again just check and make sure its ok to use.

Really there are endless ways of doing this but its important to get it right quick because as you have seen from the flyers from your first events, it will stick fast and people will use it...

I also like to use something from a foreign or another not very well known language. It's a pretty nice advise ;)
Zild
I got stuck with Zild for some reason.

I use the name Element when I label my mixes. I dont play out yet (but im working hard trying to perfect my mixing.. When im ready I got a mate ready to sort me out with a set at his local :D) but when I do I'll be using Element. The name comes from a skateboard company.. I used to skate and Element is one of my favbrands so I stole their name :D
FSUares
I use the name my brother and his friends called me since I was little:
-Stiggy-
I dunno how I got it or what it is all about but I think it is ok and I hopefully will never run into another DJ named Stiggy.

Think of nicknames you have got before, or maybe a nickname you gave to someone in your family. Otherwise just go with one of the alias Chevy Chase uses in Fletch.....I personally like John Coctostan.

I personally go by "Slick Nick the Rulah". My first name is Nick and my friend just randomly came up with that nickname a couple of years back before I even started DJing. I'm currently working on some productions/remixes and have done a couple of sets with my friend, who goes by "The Karate Kid". His name is a result of a nickname I gave him. He is very good in all sorts of martial arts and has traveled all over the US. Collectively, we are "Slick Nick & The Karate Kid". I dunno I kind of like our name..it has a nice ring to it i think.

www.djshan.com - already being used! Admittedly he doesn't usually have "DJ" in front, but it could still be confusing... he's a wicked DJ btw if anyone wants to check him out :)
