Man After watching that movie I now hate everybody who does that.
1. NOTHING - NOT ONE thing sounded good.
2. He was standing there doing nothing the WHOLE time.
3. Ooh, you can press the space bar, you can play at the biggest clubs worldwide because your spacebar pressing is so "l33t"
4. It's gay...
5. If you can't carry 10,000 vinyls...buy SSL or FS... at least you're not cheating by having a program key tunes for you beatmatch them and bring them in while you dance like tiesto. |

Anyone else notice how his mic was on the right side of his face for most of it but for some shots it switched over to the left?
Weird..
In my opinion.. I'd be scared of this, if it gets any momentum i'm sure people will be able to make much better programs and maybe make it more enjoyable to use. It's definitely a threat, and if something 'cool' which a lot of people get behind comes along i can see there not being enough demand to keep vinyl record producers going.
How ever for the time being i'm quite happy using vinyl :) But my pockets feel the pain :(
just my 2p.

| I love using vinyl and will continue to buy it as long as its being sold, but I doubt vinyl will even be around in 5 years. None of the big djs use it at all anymore and many record labels are only releasing stuff on mp3. |

| just watched the BT video and what he was doing sounded awful. I've heard BT DJ before and have been impressed. That was unimpressive. |

| BT has be rumoured to even play recorded sets. at least you know with vinyl that its actually happening. |

| As much as Markus Shultz, Ferry Corsten, PVD, Tiesto, says that vinyls is dead. Vinyl is not going away, and it is going to stay alive and well. |

There will always be room for both...but none should shun the other. Vynil is still an artform and ableton etc is just bringing a new level of creativity.
I say its what comes out of the speakers that counts. |

I'm not for or against and im not gonna wade into this debate, but can someone tell me what that lil blue light hand thing BT had was?
The thing that he was putting his hand over and seemed to be controlling the beats? he started doing it at about 2:35 in the video.
Cheers! :) |

People need to get over Ableton keeping the tracks in time. Since when did beat matching = DJ skills? Beat matching is the first thing you learn when you start, it isn't an advanced skill. After beat matching you focus on mixing, track selection, reading the crowd and so on. That is where the art is. It isn't in beat matching at all. You could be a great beat matcher and still be a horrible DJ. Beat matching is just 1/10th of the equation.
And remember that not liking BT doesn't mean you can't like Live. I might not like a DJ's set but that doesn't mean the turntables are crap.
Live is a tool and it takes skill to use the tool. Think of learning Live as learning a new skill, even if it means you don't use an old one as often. |

the point is, BT was demonstrating Ableton's capabilities and what he was doign was supposed to be a showcase for what the program can do. What he was doing sounded awful. I'm not even arguing that I don't like Live, because I haven't tried it and right now don't care to. Maybe I will in the future...I just hope I can better utilize it than BT. |

Eh, that was to show what BT learned to do with ableton, not what the program can really do...because BT barely did jack with it.
And that hand light control is retarded. |

so what about people who are just getting into this and don't use vinyl or CDs at all?
i think it'd be kind of strange to be a great Live "DJ" and then when someone asks you to spin vinyl or CDs at a party, you'd be like "ehhhhhh......i don't know how....where's my laptop?". |
