Anyways...the only thing I didn't like about Boa's system was the configuration of the speakers around the room. There was a bit of a delay...barely noticeable, but it was there. I've never been to Stereo, but I assumed since they have a custom system that even a tiny detail like that would be taken care of. Nevertheless though, Boa's soundsystem was insanely good when it came to clarity and so on. |

| Hey i'm not dissing Boa..IMO it was the club I had the best time in Toronto.I'm just saying the sound was not as crisp and perfect as Stereo's.With the sound pumping at Stereo, there is so little distortion you can actually talk to people in the club without yelling. |

to be honest, I haven't had to yell at Boa either...but the few times I've been there it's been different each time, in terms of sound quality. One time my ears would be ringing when I left, other times I didn't even feel like I was at a club at all. Overall though, the sound was f'in clear. |

Okay okay, I can't take it anymore...I am so excited that I can't help but fill you in on a few things that have been happening with the 270 space. There have been many questions about many things and I am going to give you just a little bit of insight as to what is happening over there at Dundas and Spadina...but not too much info because that would just spoil the surpises that we have in store. For starters, here are a few things that you can expect to see on November 5th:
- Brand new functional coat check capable of holding more coats than legal capacity will allow.
- A clean, fresh, and new look for the bathrooms upstairs. Some new finishes in the bathrooms downstairs...and most importantly brand new toilets, faucets, and plumbing that actually works in all of the bathrooms! We are taking the sketch right out of the palce.
- A modified, sleaker, better, less obstrusive dj booth with better sight lines and a customized interior. You will also have a better view of the DJ and will be able to see more than just a head bopping around the booth...definitely a more interactive and warm vibe. :-)
- Brand new finishes throughout the space including fresh paint and really cool floor finishings.
- ***the stars mean muy importante...apparently the air conditioning and heating ducts are a mess and they look like they have not been cleaned for 20 years...no wonder there were problems with the A/C...so needless to say that is as good as sorted!
Okay, so a couple more things that you are likely wondering about...the sound, the name of the space, and the regularity of the space.
SOUND ---> Many have been wondering who is doing the sound and what it is going to be. I do not want to spill the beans because that would be no fun. Truth of the matter is...there are already 3 clubs in this city with a Dynacord System...of all 3 of them...you all know which one sounded the best by far...the one that was at 270. Well, through a lot of research and relentless interrogation of a whole wack of sound people we have found out that there are a number of better options than the Dynacord for that room. In the end, that room is an accoustical temple and will not be rivaled by any room in this city...this I guarantee. More on the sound in the coming weeks. ;-)
REGULARITY ---> Over the next few months we will be using 270 Spadina as an event based space. The reason for this is because we are not planning on launching our final and finished product until after the New Year. We will be shut down for a fairly major face lift just after NYE and will then re open with 2 consistant nights per week. ;-) There is still a chance that some portions of the major face lift will get done between now and NYE as well...so who knows...the space could be looking very different from event to event.
NAME ---> This is still up in the air...WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE A COOL NAME FOR THE SPACE? We wanted to take our time with the name just as we are doing with the space...a little TLC...so we will launch the new name and finished product all at once. This is a whole new thread...but we will start it here and see how far we get.
Well, I hope that these answer some of the questions you have been asking. All that I can tell you is that I honestly believed that Boa was the best place in the city and now I can honestly promise you that things in T.O. are about to be taken to the NEXT LEVEL. ;-)
