I own a pair of Beyerdynamic DT250's, and I highly recommend them. You'll need to buy a 1/4" to 1/8" plug converter from radioshack for like, 2 dollars.

Haven't tried those but I've heard those are quite good too.

Dunno how you can be bro...HPX2000 are for djing...I had them before my current AKG-240S...and my friend burned them (the HPX that is...like 2 months ago) cause he heard too loud with them...he even burned the same side's output of the AMP he used...hehe...
Anyhow I wanted to say that the HPX are for djing and that they give you a much more bassy image of the sound, they focus too much on bass and squish the all sound...that's my opinion though...
Thois
i have beyerdynamic dt 770's, not really happy with the bass, there is too much, appart from that they are great (very confy and great sound)

They're a bit bass heavy, but I like it that way.
The answer to all the arguments about 'too much' bass, mids or highs, is simply to EQ the signals before letting them to your headphones with a small mixer, or using a different output for the headphones on your soundcard.
Calibrate the sound of the headphones with the sound of your speakers.
It doesn't get much more difficult than that, but it's another situation if the headphones has 'too little' bass, mids or highs, then EQ won't solve it.

Unless you're a professional producer that produces music for (partly) living, the only difference expensive headphones would do is how 'cool' you are as a producer. Then you've got something to brag about ;)
As for me, I don't care about bragging or telling everyone how professional I am.
The honor shouldn't be given to me, but to God!

But if you do want to spend a lot of money on headphones, it's your choice. I would have gone for the Senns, have read a lot of good reviews about it and I know several people that uses them. Definately quality.

Dude, no offense please but I really think that about 99% of what you said there is bull (sorry for the expression).
Look, about EQ'ing the output, trust me - I know about it, I don't use a little mixer though, I use a 15 band stereo graphic EQ to get the 2 Passive Panasonic speakers I use to sound as flat as they can and I know that there's a limit to where I can get...espesecially when you got only 'Low' 'Mid' and 'High'. With a mixer you can control a bunch of Freq's at the same time, so while you drop the "too much bass" you drop other freq's that might have been set right.
Buying a good headphones just for the look? Dude...wtf?!? My headphones are boxed and in my room 24/7...How will I brag to or who can I brag about? And did you see me bragging about them? No! I said that in his place -I- would have gotten them and not others. Another thing - buying good headphones is for you and for you only, if someone does that otherwise he's defently stupid...you don't always need to go with what other ppl say...get your own opinion about certain stuff.
I bought the AKG I got after getting advices AND listening to them and to other headphones. and to be honest with you, I would have gotten the AKG 140 if they would have set better on my hears...
And as far as for the Senns' then the only ones that would fit good with producing are the 590 and up from my honest opinion and they cost about X2 - X3 more then the AKG's I own.

I never said that the headphones would sound perfect with EQ.. But it will make a difference. ;)
About the 'looks' thing, I wasn't clear enough about my opinion, I should have written more clearly what kind of people i was referring to.
If you are serious about music, I won't recommend you not to buy good headphones.
I was referring to the group of people that isn't serious about producing and doesn't need professional headphones. There's no point for them spending money on pro headphones, unless they wan't to brag with them.
Again, sorry for not expressing myself clearly enough :)

I have my own opinion, if my opinion wasn't different to yours, you wouldn't have written the above post. So I have my own opinions.
I am more than happy with the HPX2000's...
Thats another opinion btw.. ;)

Cheers, ;)

hehe, that kind of explains it all.. :P
I just didn't get you...For people that aren't too serious I'd never advice to get expensive gear...my friend did it and took out over $4000 and he stopped making music..well he actually produced only 3-4 tracks with the equip' and then stopped...waste of money to be honest...
In that case I'd understand cause I had the HPX for creating when I wasn't too serious about it...
Sorry for bursting out on you...and thanks for explaining your self.

So I game in tournaments and what not, but I also produce. I'm thinking of getting the Sennheiser HD555 for both gaming and producing. What do you's think? Is it worth the $165 for both aspects? Regardless I'd like to get them because my friend has them and says they're AMAZING for gaming. If not then I'll just save some extra money for some AKG's or something.

This is the AKG's. I think they are a complete bargain!

Just a quick question, I run my speakers through a NAD 3020E amp. If I plug my headphones into this, will I still get a (relatively) flat response, or will the amp treat the sound and defeat the object?

Thx.

hmm, 2 things...
First of all don't buy the AKG's till you try them out...you might not like them and end up beating yourself up in the end for spending so much money on headphones you don't like.
Seconed, If your AMP got 'Treble' and 'Bass' knobs for adusting then the sound then make sure you put them on '0' so they won't add noting and then listen to a track you like with the AMP and without it so you'll see if it does change the sound, if so, just adjust the knobs a bit and your set to go.
Good luck. =)
