Hey. Thats done using 2 oscillators, both set on saw waves and slightly detuned from one another. Distortion is then applied on top of that and then the synth is run through an outboard filter. The 'pumping' the sound does is done with either a sidechaining compressor or a ducking limiter. This can also be done with a single band compressor if you automate the output gain so that the bassline is around -12db when the kick hits but then raises to around +2db. The automation track will look like a saw, with the downward pit happening when the kick occurs. Hope this helps :).

Hello,
Zac, I tried by what you said to make him a sketch of the routing I couldn't hear the sample (says 403 to me) so it's really just a sketch...
@Gary: http://tmp.djbooster.net/bass.rns as you said you use reason I made a routing sketch for you...check the cables and you'll get the sound yourself if you'll need...and excuse my soundquality...it's just a sketch as I said above...hope this helps...yo...file is Reason 3.0.2 I am too lazy to update.. |

That would be great if you can,its a great bass,and thankyou for the file but its coming up saying it has a bad format? |

Haven't got hold of tony yet but as soon as I do I'll ask him :)
what I do know is that it's a pretty simple sound that's sidechained, probably done in cubase but might be done in reason too (although cubase would be more likley) |

| if the file doesn't work try to re-download or check if you have the same version of Reason... (3.02) in this case |

Actualy it is :) Tony (Tyu) only wrote the breakdown melody.
and that bassline is made in reason at my studio! |
