my hermit crab died today

..his name was Rocky, and he was about 2 years old.
at first i thought he molted bc i saw what i thought was a molten shell near his coconut hut, so i left him alone to sleep as they like to do since molting is painful for them....but ends up it was actually his body, he crawled out of his shell before he died.
cause of death unknown :(

edit: rocky is survived by his brother, hermie, who is 1 and a half y/o. |

I never met rocky, but from what i read about him, he was a crab who showed gear courage. Rocky will be missed.

I feel for you. I had a hermit crab a few years back. He died while molting. It would seem that it was just too warm and dry in my appartment and I was out at work too long and couldn't keep him moist. I felt so guilty.
It's strange, you never know how good a pet a crustation can be until you have one.

as small as a pet can be, it still really sucks losing one. So i'm sorry to hear about your loss.
I had a goldfish once, and I loved it and fed it and stuff. And then one day, I was watching TV and when I came to check up on my fish, it was lying on the floor, dead. It jumped out of its own damn tank :(
Flushing them down the toilet is the worst part. |

for some reason i feel more sad b/c its a hermit crab than i would be if you told me your cat died or something... i tink its just the originality of the crab dying instead of the typical cat or dog..
