a lesson in humility and humanity

sorry guys, it's been a while since there's been an argument. :D
ok. i've got a little scenario for you guys. humor me here, please. :p

suppose i own a little toy store, it's been in the family for 100 years. i do extremely well for myself, and i am completely independant. now, across the street i see a sign that says "opening soon! toys r' us!" and very soon the next day a lawyer comes to my store and offers me some money to close up shop. of course i wouldn't, but when the toys r' us comes along, sure as i'm going out of business. that's all fair in a commercialist society, right?

so now imagine the toy store that my family owned for generations was canada/america and my family was the natives that lived here prior to european settlers, and toys r' us is the european settlers that came along and made north america their home.
how is what they did any more (or any less for that matter) that a corporate take over? this same scenario has repeated itself over thousands of years, a bigger, more advanced race has a need to expand its territory, and conquers a new land for itself. now, i'll state now, before i get flamed, that i am not necessarily on this side of the argument, i'm just putting it in terms that you can relate to.

now the natives (used as a generalization, i am not saying all natives are bad/lazy) refuse to work or pay taxes to support the system that they are living off of. they expect all these extra privleges because they were here first. i don't know, maybe there is some big picture i'm missing, because this scenario is not making much sense to me.

shaking my head,

hmm.. well, good point!!:p

Well, i may not know the true reason, for i'm not a native, but i will tell you what i think.

The natives (from what i'v read/heard), are very unfortunate. You may think that they get all kinds of privaleges, etc...
but in reality (statistically), they are some of the poorest people.
Federal aid isn't gonna help much.
They don't expect to recieve help, but according to the U.S. constitution, they are also Americans, and therefore, the gov't tries to provide them with aid.

I hope that's what this thread was about, or am i totaly off topic??:p

BTW, if i'm mistaken in any way, or saying something wrong/not true,
then please tell me, for this is just based on a few vague facts/thoughts...

well, that's because as a whole, they are an uneducated bunch. heh, i'm not being fecesious here, it's the truth. but it's not like they can't stop this cycle, they can stay in school, they don't have to start fights, or live off welfare. i don't blame the government for helping them out, they are humans; they are in need. but for them to neglect their duty to their country and leech off a system design to help out the needy is sheer laziness and trash. now, this sort of behavior is not limited to natives, but a large percent of natives are unemployed or uneducated. unfortunately, they are victims of a viscious cycle, and for that i empathize, they aren't to be blamed for being dealt a bad hand in life, they are to be blamed for not breaking the chain and creating a better life for themselves, and not relying on what happened to their ancestors 200 years ago to make a living.

Yea, you got a point about not contributing anything, but i don't know.
Maybe they have their own traditions, like their ancestors..???
Maybe they don't believe in working for others...??

Anyway, about Holland, I can't wait till i go there, someday....
