I don't think that the words "floppy" and "wave" should be put into the same sentence.
Really, it's hard when you have a lot of data, because I seriously can't afford to invest in what it would take to make proper backups. I just back up whatever seems the most critical... a system drive image and my samples. |

No, no.. PUNCHCARDS are the new backup medium of choice. |

I personally never back up either and I have had catastrophic failures, but I don't keep anything important enough on here that I need to care about it. |

Told you that other dude didn't know what he was talking about...
You probably lost your partition table and maybe some other stuff; a lot of the data might still be recoverable, just depends on how important it is to you. Hopefully that guy didn't do a low-level format of your drive while he was trying to "fix" it, haha... |

Dan, what are your thoughts?
Was he just spouting off at the mouth?
Did he choke under pressure?
Was someone posting on his account?

This is crazy, Dan. I'km sure he was in amazement as well that his superpowers were no match for your annual issues, though he hasn't has an occurance in 10 years!!

Was he talking to you Dan?
I mean, if everyone had to count on someone like him, who believed in himself so much but really had zero skills whatsoever, we'd all be ed!

He set you on your way alright. You know Dan, it wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't run his yap about us overreacting and actually prepare you for the worst-case scenario.

I find this kinda funny .. its like teenage girls using computers and getting viruses all the time and saying their computer doesnt work .. lol |
I know...idiots we are. We should probably stop backing up our data as well!
Dan, sorry you had to deal with this bull. At least you got a new hard drive. Diginut can likely recommend for you a reputable app for attempting recovery of your data, which is still very possible.
I'd tell this geck0 twit to take a swing on it though...he'll just butter you up with false hopes. Imagine if he owned a shop? "Sir, have no fear! I'll just reformat you, reinstall XP, and send you on your way! Nooooooooooo problem!" - Lawsuit! |

nah nah. its not his fault. the drive is actually like ed. he didnt format it or touch it. we just hooked it up to another computer to check stuff out and its just super facked. i'm not going to waste his time massive trying to recover all this . the drive is like barly reconized, its facked. i dont know wtf my computer did to the drive when it ed it, but it ed it good. i got the drive all replaced and the computers good to go now.
and as for recovering all the data, we didnt have much time to get all into it and do it, cause we both had to do haha, so we did what we could and thats that for now. from the looks of , the drive is super ed though.
and about backing up. for the average user, an external drive and cds/dvds will do just fine. i had an external drive, just didnt use it. tape back up and stuff, for a consumer, thats not really something you need to do. i used to sell that stuff for a company, and most businesses dont even use it. most used cds/dvds, servers. for people like use, no use for tape drives. |

Nah bro, I'm not saying it was, he just ran his mouth like he was king before even troubleshooting the matter, and about not having to backup, etc., instead of agreeing with us and simply saying, "yeah, we'll see what happens when I get my hands on it."
Additionally, the backup medium has NOTHING to do with whether you're a businessperson or not, and EVERYTHING to do with the amount of data to be backed up. Unless, of course, you have a better way for me to mirror and archive 500GB+ of data? Don't forget to take into account that my data store grows daily. |

^^ yeah man, whatever works for you. i'm just saying, the average user wouldnt need to, but if you need to, then you need too :) |
