I do not recall any forum rules that state criticism against Trance Addict is forbidden. This is interesting because that is the only crime of which I could possibly be guilty. The answer that was given was you don't have the time so nothing can be done. You don't have the time. Don't get me wrong, I give all props and credit where it is due. This is a wonderful place you've created, a wonderful community that has spawned from it, and you are all deserving of every thank you there is to give because of everything that has and will result from it. But get the off your high horse man. You don't have the time? Why do you have to be such a control freak, unwilling to pass off the slightest bit of responsibility over anything that happens on the site? Of freaking course you can't run this all by yourself and you are making a grave mistake by not allowing anyone to help you. Its so sad that the mods display every bit of frustration I do that nothing is being done about these issues.
You say I've offered nothing but angst and derogatory comments. I will make no false assumptions that I am anything but unrestrained in every opportunity to do so but this is only because it has proven to be the only method that actually gets a response out of you.
Way back when you first announced the TA version 2.0 coming soon you held a short redesign contest for the site. Lord knows what ever happened to that as you haven't offered any information on TA version 2.0 no matter how many people have asked about its status since then. And plenty of people have asked. Most likely you didn't have the time to see any of it through and didn't bother to ask anyone to help because that would mean giving someone else control over something.
I entered that contest, which was sort of redundant because I had already emailed you before all that and offered my services to redesign TA free of charge. I never heard anything back from you about the designs – and I was kind of expecting not to even while I was making them. I sent you a couple emails over time still inquiring but alas nothing.
(For anyone interested in seeing them they can be viewed here, here, and here. I would post the link to my original post after I made them but it is in a forum only the TA admin & starter can read and I can't view it under my current restrictions.)
Point being don't ing tell me I haven't offered anything.
I have offered constructive criticism, I have offered suggestions, I have offered my own personal help, all through email, PM, and regular posting over my long tenure here. I had tried everything but every attempt to get through to you fell on deaf ears. You never replied, never explained (short of what was wrong), and never revealed plans for the future to remedy the situation. Apropos, if you want to frustrate the hell out of me then give me a problem without the capability to solve it. Congratulations, you've succeeded admirably.
I spend more time online at TA than online anywhere else. It has a vibrant community base, a central theme – electronic music – I am most assuringly interested in, and a lot more. In many ways it is a one stop shop for all my entertainment needs. The only problem is I know it could be better and there isn't anything being done to make it so. I know I'm not the only one that feels that way even if I'm the only one that vocalizes it. The general population is getting obviously frustrated as a result of this lack of action and the resulting backlash is becoming apparent – just ask the mods. When these TAs get frustrated they're going to communicate that frustration some how. The mods and you are dealing with this communicated frustration every day with all the naughty posts you delete and accounts you suspend.
I really wish you had chosen a different path. I know I can come off as boorish but I would have hoped my continued and persistent persuit for answers would have shown I wasn't just another person bitching to you about a broken search function but someone who really wanted to know what you were doing back there. Instead of taking the time to talk to me like a person and explain the situation you've chosen this. Its all just so disappointing…
