LOL
dude, that is everywhere... U gotta keep yourself informed about this kind of stuff
Let me give u the info
TAS are bitchin about their salary which havent been reajusted for 10 years. Last week 70% of the Union voted yes for a strike unless their demands are met. York made an offer, the Union tossed it right back to York's face. The strike is suppose to begin tomorrow (thursday) at 7:00am.
If there is a strike, no classes will be held until everything is resolve. The university will pretty much close down.
Check http://www.yorku.ca/yorkweb/ tomorrow morning before heading to class. Theres a link in the bottom: "Bulletins" click on it, then click on "Negotiations"... if theres a strike no school for u!
:nervous: I hope the strike wont happen, if it happens the will hit the fan:wtf: |

last night, CUPE 3903 rejected the lastest offer made by York administration.
The strike deadline is midnight tonight, meaning that if York does not table a better offer, CUPE will be on strike as of 7am tomorrow.
This will mostly likely (once confirmed by York) mean no classes will be held. TTC, Go, YRT, and Viva will not be operating on the campus, as these services do not cross picket lines.

There are rumours floating around that there will still be lectures, however this is NOT LIKELY. As I have already stated, there will be no public transportation into the York campus, and Professors will have to cross the picket line to get to work.
3 of my professors have confirmed that the University will be closed (and theatre profs are more in the know, because the theatre dept. will be affected in more ways than just classes... like our production schedule). |

on 2000
the 2.5 months of strike , was a great period off for student to catch up with their studying and even read ahead ...
not that bad. + its not such a bad idea ... you can work, make money + study an hour a day
you'll be set
or go vacation
I'm actually in favour of a stike LOL |

And instead, York just hands out credits like candy, instead of giving you the REAL education you paid for.

actually matt
i talked to several students who experienced the 2000 strike
and that year was their best , in terms of academic success
straight A's
what will happen if its prolonged = change of +curreculum+ sp??
so that means if you happen to perfom bad by the end of the year you have the option of dropping it , no petitions required
+
all lectures will be accounted for
you get to come to school till the end of may
this is all if its the same length = 2.5 months |
