Ferrari Enzo. 41 year old driver, dead. Happened near Milan this past Sunday morning, so say the folks on Ferrarichat.

I'm sure he went out with a ridiculous grin on his face.

... more like a stain in the pants.

I saw this on another board this morning and nearly shed a tear. Reminds me of Jamiroquai trashing 2 Enzo's and being banned from purchasing another Ferrari again.

Sad day for both the car and the driver (and anyone else involved for that matter).

!! What a waste of a car!!

Oh and those crazy italians after raves are just that. crazy.

WHAT

They should resurrect Enzo Ferrari himself so that he can execute Jamiroquai.
techead
Jeezuz
What kind of speed was he going for the car to split in half
I thought that this thing was built like a formula 1 car so where is the safety cockpit which is kevlar or titanium or something exotic that the F1 cars have
Hell looks like that thing burst open faster than a microwave bag of popcorn

^^ well I'm sure the Enzo didn't get a 5 star crash rating.....

WOW

What the heck did he hit to make his car split in 1/2 like that??

what if he was using a rental....u can get these exotic rentals nowadays...

where would they take the damage from??
simms327
his estate??

that would suck, as his next of kin, not only would your relative have died, but youd have bought a blown up enzo...

Ferrari doesn't sell cars until after they have been leased for 3 years. Since the vehicle would have most likely been on lease it definately would have to be insured for collision (a condition of every lease agreement I have ever read). Subsequently, there is an extremely high likelihood that the damages are going to be paid via insurance. In most jurisdictions the insurance policy will trump the rental agreement so the family will likely be alright (that said I have no clue whether this is the case in Italy but in all of Canada and most of the US it would be).

the ground.

I've seen quite a few very high speed roll-overs (with exotic cars) and in nearly all cases the vehicle ends up splitting. Once the vehicle gets upwards of 200km/h the tortional forces of a roll-over will tear it right down the middle (as the weakest part of the vehicle is at the doors). If you look at the photos you can see a slight elevation in the road immediately before the trail of debris begins. The vehicle probably became airborn on that hump and was moving laterally in the air, the rear wheels would have come down first (because of the greater weight in the rear and increased downforce). The lateral motion would have experienced resistance at the rear of the vehicle upon impact with the ground while the front would have continued to twist thus pulling the vehicle into a roll.
