True but then compare a small 75 mill to the cool sum of the millenium dome, if u want to talk about tax payers money being wasted, wemley seems like a bargin in comparison :D

The saltire now flies proudly over the home of English football after two Scots builders hung the St Andrew's cross from the steelwork on the new 90,000 seater Wembley stadium.

"Some of them saw the funny side of it, but others just hate the idea that their national stadium was built by Scots. They didn't think we should be here at all."

The Dutch had flags up on the cranes and since then we have competed to see who can get theirs the highest. We've got our on the steelwork. Then the Irish used abseilers to put the tricolour up on the arch.

We are planning to put a saltire under the pitch - in the goalmouth. That way long after we are gone a little of bit of Wembley will be a little Scottish. Every time an English player kicks the ball a Scottish spirit will come to haunt him."

thats not totally accurate. Multiplex shot themselves in the foot because like all construction this size, the customer makes all contractors give them a fixed price, and the cheapest gets the deal.

Contractors then go so low in an attempt to outbid their rivals to get the deal, it doesnt cover the actual cost of the construction. They only announce 3/4 of the way through that theyre not going to be on budget, and need more cash. That way they win the contract, and they're so far into it, the customer won't pull out, and they'll come to a comprimise.

So the whole thing would have probably cost £100m more than quoted, so if they had said that none of this "it needs more money" would have came about, but if they quoted 100m more, chances are someone else would have just done what they did.

I look forward to visiting it myself when England are playing. 90 000 people in one venue will make one hell of an Atmosphere!

there is no way they should have ditched the twin towers, they were part of british history.

They should have at least incorporated them in to the new stadium:(

The arch is a worthy replacement I reckon. When they light it up people in Glasgow need to put sunglasses on :p

Nah bollocks, IMO england will never be good enough to win anything again, let alone if it was held in the UK, as there is too much foreign influence in todays game.

When people say Wembley 1966, people think of the twin towers, as thats whats associated with the world cup, not some stupid ing steel arch
