Reckon shooting ragheads in downtown Baghdad at the risk of getting blown up by an IED while driving to a fight just ain't too popular these days. This war really sucks. Have to admire the tactics of the bad guys though cause I'd do the same if I got annihilated every time I tried to use force on force.

uhh, i'm at war...;) this ain't that bad, two years here in iraq now, but this is definitely the best job, i run a sniper section. It's just about the perfect job, pity is that I will probably be a platoon sergeant when I get back stateside this time, so no more sniping for me.:wtf:

Cool, hope you pop a couple more for the homies before coming home. It'll be a drag getting off of the rooftops and going face to face as a PSG the next time. Enjoy it while you can.

I'd have to say WW2 and a fighter pilot. Fly the Spitfire during the battle of britain.
Part of me wants to say a soldier during WW2 but i would have hated the beach landings, maybe something like Fighting elsewhere or come in via parachute or glider.
Pilot during Vietnam would be interesting too...

ide also say world war II. ide like to be a german soldier fighting during the d-day landings. ide like to be on omaha beach viewing it from the german side of things. i just wouldnt like to be fighting for hitler, unless he wasnt a jew hater.

but like napolean, "Never has a man and his country gone to far, and fallen so deep."

I think I would fight the War On Drugs.

I would be the bad guy.

im on your side. except, usually the bad guy thinks he;s the good guy, and the good guy is the bad guy and its inverse.

World War II was almost a classical Good v. Evil kind of battle. It's one of the few wars that was justifiable. It necessitated a call to action to stop the threat of Hitler's Third Reich.

If I was alive back then, you better believe I would've enlisted on December 8th, 1941. (Don't try to make an analogy between Pearl Harbor and Sept 11 because it just wasn't (and isn't) the same atmosphere).

yea, sep. 11 was worse, 3000 innocent CIVILIANS were murdered and the attackers wanted nothing more but the destruction of america. the japanese on the other hand just wanted to knock the american naval power of the pacific so they could dominate it without interference. about 1000 more people died on sep. 11 than pearl harbor.

Saddam's Reich was no different and al-Queda is no less a threat in the Good v. Evil worldwide battle. We're in the and our boys are doing a helluva job. Wars are fought a little differently these days than 60 years ago. Force on force confrontations are over quickly, but insurgencies and terroristic acts persist so you can't get a finality to conflicts like you used to. This doesn't necessarily mean we haven't won though so long as political objectives are achieved.
