I bought my second turntable and Serato today. That stuff is AWESOME!!!
Man, you can DJ with ONLY ONE turntable!!! unless you want to play records. For your laptop, you don't need top portable.. as long as the specifications of Serato are under your laptop's, you're ok. And if you want to dj at friends or say weddings, you might consider buying an internal hardrive with ide to usb adapter so you can use it externally.
Don't forget, you can DJ with only one turntable is you plan on only mixing digital stuff. But be sure to read everything about it to be sure.
Serato = ownz
EDIT : I have a IBM thinkpad. I accidentaly dropped it from my desk.. it's still working fine. They are strong.. but any brand can do the trick if you really take care of it. |

ASUS is nice, not that over-priced crap u get at the store with all those crappy specs. but, r u gonna use it in a club? if so, dont they all use macs? or maybe that whole mac thing with it being more stable is bs? im not sure i never used a mac. |

You can always buy an external soundcard... but with SSL or FS using usb bus, I wouldn't count too much on that.
EDIT : Damn, I'm soo stupid... you don't need a soundcard for SSL or FS =) |

FS2 actually uses Firewire, which is supported by MACs and PCs alike. Just an fyi... |

actually, they just revamped the powerbooks with higher res screens and better vid cards and dropped the prices on them.
the intel macs wont be out till '07 at the earliest.
but the powerbook is def the way to go. my powerbook was the first mac i ever bought and ill never go back |

| Yeah everything I've read says they will only have one more update, if that, to the powerbooks before they switch to mactels. |
