this lineup will bring in TONS more people than last year. Oakenfold is still such a massive draw and on NYE? Thats one hell of a booking.
Godskitchen knows whats up for sure. Tiesto already soldout 3000 tickets for circus as well? Just another example.
Even at those outrageous prices, justified or not, the fact is people will pay insane amounts to see the top dogs. Its always worked in the past and always will. People associate a name until they stop djing - even for someone in the past like oakenfold.
Biggy i respect you but aria looks like a snooze fest on new years. In fact aria has been pretty lackluster this year. I mean the only big trance dj you brought was ferry out of all five of them - even western canada clubs has had way more than u guys |

Not sure where you get your reference from but Oakenfold has been nothing but disappointment of late. So, Godskitchen doesn't know what's up really. Or, let's say, they got the deal with 514Productions rather late to book a better line up.
Your preaching for the “unjustified” and “outrageous” prices makes a little sense. Yes, some people do associate music with names. In fact, people will pay lots of money for “names” that play “music” even if the music isn't that good. Hence, “tiesto” is a cool “name” today, so it's a lot easier to remember and trendier to follow... but when you ask about the music, people don't often have a clear idea of the electronica he spins.
True about Aria but if you compare it to Stereo this year. They were a lot better than the one html based web page club. |

Ferry twice! and don't forget Markus Schulz....besides, like it's been said a trillion times, the Montreal scene is all about house. They'd rather book the big house names ie: Deep Dish and Howells over the top trancers. Maybe it doesn't look that great on NYE, but any other night it would be packed to capacity with those two names, and probably still will be on the 31st. |
