I am about to run in the RVC 10k race.
I did it when I was
age:15,42:00
age:16,40:08
good times due to I was an track d00d but not top notch.
now done with college and 1 month running over the summer and then 1 week before this race to train running 3 miles a day here we go
age:23,??? you will find out after today.
goal is to break 40 like when I was 16 but did not!
:nervous:
whats you best 5k or 10k times....if you care at all about track! |

My best 5 and 10k times are identical: 0:00.
I suck/hate running any length that is longer than a basketball court.
Good luck today though; I hope you are able to break your time!
Do it for the children!! |

lol, same as ygrene for me. i hate running with a passion.. has to do with the fact that i ed up both ankles at one point or another in my life.. they crack all the time and lock on me if i go running (where i then proceed to fall flat on the ground). that's why i took up martial arts instead. if i have to, i'll do a little light jogging but i can never run a marathon :( and on that note...
GOOD LUCK TRANCEALOT!!! :D :D :D :D |

| I SUCK at long distance running. Longest I ran was 1500m (1.5k), and that was in 5:12. :nervous: |

| I used to love running but was never really fast. I did a 5K in 29 mins, pretty bottom of the barrel. |

track were my best years.
my personal records:
400m - 54sec
800m - 2:09
1600m (mile) - 5:09
3200m (two mile) - 11:29
i only ran cross country to stay in shape for track. otherwise, the first two weeks of the track would be filled with cramps, vomitting, and extreme soreness. but i ran a 5k about 6 monthes ago, but i was out of shape.
5k (3.1 miles) - 20:35
im probably worse now. the only exercise i get is from dancing and glowsticking, but honestly, thats enough, because i do it often. |

update:.....
45:00 lol!!
I atleast I did not stop!
1st mile, felt good 10-20 people ahead of me
2nd mile, felt it alittle, people passing me
3rd mile, felt worse, mad people passed me
4th mile, felt good again like rejuvinated but I still ran 3 miles already so huritng but no too bad
5th mile, kick and was doing good, passed a few people but then aroud end of 5th mile, started to slow down
last mile, well last 300 m I kicked it and was screaming like those crazy runners at races and pumped my ass in and beat 4-5 people at the line.
1st overall:35:00
me:52nd: 45:00
got bronze in my divison 20-24 :)
I wish I ran better mentally because physically I had in in me but 10k is alot compared to what I am used to running(5k) +6 years since i ran this race also!
They Still owe me a t-shirrt because I signed up 400+ people and had none left those biznitches! |

my last 5k, i got a silver medal for the 18-24 age group. the guy who got first place in my age group and second overall was a freak runner, who was top 10 in the state and ran for my school. he was in the 15 minute range. then there was my puny 20 minute.
yea, its a huge mental game. u need a mental strategy before every race. and to control nervousness. i remember being so nervous, that i felt like throwing up. and that always hampered me before i learned some ways of not letting it get to me.
during a race, its best to trail another runner. find someone who is keeping pace with the pack, and just stay with the pack. a lot of easier than running on your own. its only in the last 1 or 2 miles of 10k that u start fighting for position. that is where u lose it or gain it. the last mile is actually supposed to be your fastest mile, so if thats not the case, u are pacing yourself wrong. even though you are most tired at the end, that is where races are won and lost, is how much u got in you at the end. the last lap or mile, is where u either pull ahead of the pack or fall back. really depends on you and how conditioned your body is. |
