Steve Callaghan - Shelter (Evasive remix) [192Kbs sample]

Hi guys, been a while since i posted a sample of on-going production in here, but as my connection is bit faster these days it's easier to upload stuff. So this is something i've been working on this week. Most of you will be familiar with Steve Callaghan from his tunes with Frase, and his solo tune Shelter which got excellent feedback around the beginning of the year.

Anyway, i've finally got my arse in gear and done a remix of it. This is a first draft, already plan to bring the strings out a bit more, give them more presence and power in the mix. same for the vocals in places. Any other comments though would be wicked!

The track itself is intended to be early set material, trance with a progressive feel to it's beats and backing.

Hey Abora,

Nice chilled pace from the beginning.

I like the kick - it's got a solid 'thump' to it.

The mix sounds kinda muffled though.. it kinda sounds like most layers are centered. Some panning oughta help that!

The vocals are well placed.. classy!

I was sorry to hear the sample end - looking forward to the end product!

Abora,

This track is great right from the build up. The voices you use are fantastic during build up. The break itself is also superb.

I totally agree with Sooper, you need to work a bit on your eq'ing. The mid frequencies are gone it seems from this sample.

You could have put in a bit more fx and percussions to make the track a bit more spicy but other than that quite a pleasant track this. Well done!

hey man...

listening through this. i really like teh vocal clips you used.... as sooper said, very nicely placed.

i'm liking the sound effects you used. melody is nice, a bit simple and repetitive, but i bet it would sound great in a club. percussion is good, nice kick. overall a very solid track. i'll definitely watch out for this in case you post a full sample. i'd like to spin this out sometime.

p.s. try to check out a new track i just posted titled, [progressive trance] hydro - white widow. thx.

Hey,

I really like the song you got going here. The kick fits nice with the bassline (kind of reminds me of above and beyond) I like how the vocals are subtle. It captures the atmosphere well. I was expecting something more dramatic out of the melody...it gets quite repetitive. Nevertheless, I think you've got a fab song going here.

beautiful track there, I like it a lot. Well done vocal placement like posted before!

Thanks a lot guys! wicked feedback, much appreciated! Will bare in mind all of the comments.

With regard to the melody, it's simplistic in that I chose to pick that out of the original and didn't really wanna change it too drastically. Also i make a lot of big 'dramatic' trance most of the time so wanted to do something a little more subtle. Unfortunately to some that might = repetitive. But can't win em all hehe :D will also have a look into the eq'ing and general spread of the mix.

Thanks all :toocool:
