3 - 1 to England, with Rooney sent off.

i caught the second half, the last 10 minutes were quality by england, its funny how owen one of the smallest players on field scoring two header s, and crouch not gettin in on any headers when he came on

awesome match. in every respect. We all know England can turn it on against the big boys, Sven needs to fire our boys up to perform against the weaker teams as if they were Brazil or Argentina.

I still think if we went up against Brazil next week, they'd rip us a new arsehole. We're still lacking that final slick piece of footie that takes teams from the best to the elite. And we were only missing our two full backs, although that did show at the back.

I really hope J.Cole is our left midfield in a 4-4-2. Gerrard is ace theres no doubt, but he isnt a winger and Cole seems to adapt well on that side, and he made such an impact on the game when he came on, he did alot more down the line than Gerrard did.

My midfield: RM: Beckham C: King & Lampard LM: J.Cole

The balance is so much more even with King in midfield over Gerrard and Lampard, theyre just too similar.

That's the problem, sven seems to lack any 'fire' at all. Take Owen's first goal for example, the players fans and probably the whole country were bouncing off walls when he scored despite it being only a friendly. Sven? He stood up and clapped :whip:

See,imo people give sven too hard a time.
He has done our team wonders, and people forget that.
We had managers who somehow couldn't get us anywhere, for years, so we looked abroad and found a man who despite these past few months has had no bad report on his managing record.
He was under alot of stress yesterday with it being an important 'nonfriendly' friendly, so I wouldn't have expected him suddenly to underestimate the Argentinian team scoring again straight away, and his team laying back.

You see I disagree. In the past we had a decent team, but expectations were extremely high from the media and the country generally. We now have probably, on paper, one of the best teams in the world.

Robinson - brilliant for england. Still young, not outstanding but consistant enough and probably best "english" keeper in the country.

Defenders - We have what i'd call 5 world class defenders. Terry (maybe best in the world), Campbell, Ferdinand, Charagher and King. IMO King and Terry should be at the back.

Midfield - Gerrard, lampard, Beckham, Cole. Again all world class

Forwards - Owen and Rooney. Again world class players.

All that the team needs is the rigt balance (play bloody Carrick instead of Gerrard or Lampard as the holding midfielder) and a manager to inspire his team. Sven doesnt, and cant do this.

I will back him though until he has gone. If we win the world cup it will be more down to individual brilliance (like Rooney) not a manager who inspires his team.

Has the team performed well in recent years because of Sven or in spite of Sven? I certainly think the latter.

You're forgetting Neville and Cole. Luke young has done well but we have certainly missed those 2 players a lot i feel.

As a final thought, Stuart Pearce for manager
