ok, here's the (early) scoop...
left (very) early 7am (which is actually acceptable in Toronto.. but serious, I usually stay much later), metro not open (22$ taxi ride), friend was sick (had the flu prior to going to the party) other friends were content not dancing and being stoners, so it was boring and didn't feel like staying with them
missed 'new years' due to friend picking us up @ 11pm. (instead of 9pm planned time).. (probable cause them getting stoned / drunk prior to the party)
waiting in line for way over 1 hour in the cold, then another 45min or so in the molson center then to get searched, and another little bit ~20min to pass coat check (4$.. insane) and then get searched again. it was a little after 1h30 by the time I started dancing (a whole 2 hours after parking the car)
eddie jasmin = missed
david morales = superstar (played a couple nice trance songs, moved from some progressive, to deep house, to techno, a good chunk of set was pretty good chigago/nyc house, there was also some funky house as well). Although personally I found the end of his set a little weak (any opinions)
xl = , unless your on speed or e. I've never really been able to describe him (tech-house?), his stuff is borderline progressive without the melodic elements
misstress barbara = missed her (for reasons stated above), she should of started earlier (but I bet she kicked some serious ass)

hmm well... we were one of the first ones in line... got in at around 10:20 or so ... after all of the searches, coat check (ye $4 is ridiculous)... countdown was awesome, obviously it was the highlite of the night for me that is, majority of the ppl had sparklers... it looked stunning from the floor. fireworks were a bit disapointing though.
ok now the music, eddie jasmine was pretty good, he ed up once but i think it was the equipments fault... lol i saw teh expression on his face, it was like "WTF?"... anyways, david morals got on at midnight, played for 4 hours? heh we ended up leaving at around 4 or so... 5 hours of sleep past 2 nights;(.... ye so i dont know how his set finished. but he did play some nice tracks, koshen - hide u, and he threw down rapture which was awesome.. but other than that he was all over the place... i couldnt really find any rythym...
lol and that stupid pill song... i was about to throw something at him.. it was so annoying.. but ovreall i didnt really expect much from him.. and guess what.. he didnt show me much.
overall rating of the night... 7.5/10

Eddy jasmin missed
Morales played some cool choons (rapture, lalaland, knights of the jaguar!!!!,and more) and some really cheesy ones!!!prolly Stereo's all time favorates.... cheesy house ewwww i got outta the dance floor.End of his set sucked ass...he played 6hours set instead.
XL = his stuff got melodic elements in case u werent paying attention sylphin. He was boring though tonite ... its been a while like that but at freaky i heard he did well.he played from 6 to 10am
Miss B.: OMG! can u imagine me at 10am jumping like a maniak with my flashing ballz?!?!? hahahhahahah they called me the guy with da ballz.
She played Green Velvet - La La Land (Zzino Vs Filterheadz Remix)!!!!!! My god those 2hours were deadly!!! stayed till 12!!!and believe me guys .... no drugs whatso ever:) and im still awake hahahhaah i think im gonna die soon.
As for 514 productions and Mister Dan : the party isnt worth the 65$ if it wasnt for NYE! Same Oasis settings. 4 local Djs!!! and 2hours of Miss B????what a shame? i cant believe somebody place miss B at 10am to spin hard tech! 514 is down with reputation big time and prooving it day by day. Less respect for this production.Shame.
Oh by the way, i watched Eli tripping on his glowstix in the chillroom while i was resting.... wanted to say hi but lost him in few minutes.Sorry Eli hope u enjoyed ur new years!
As for Fast....hehehe u suck....i enjoyed it!!!:D:D:D |

i figure i should give my review of the night since no one stated any clear idea of what the night really was due to innacurate comments...
I got in at 11:30 and waited an hour and a half in line but it was understandable since everyone got there at the same time...
eddy jasmin: seemed to be playing some cool stuff, although i only heard him for 30 minutes...countdown was cool...too bad it was 8 seconds off with the beat drop...
david morales (6 hour set btw): exactly what i expected. not my type of house but it seemed that people really enjoyed him and got into his groove. Funny how he played rapture (creamer rmx) and hide you for all the rave rookies who wore dress shirts and black pants. I think his set had its highs and lows.
XL: sounded very different at times...his blend of melodic/euphoric house (if that exists) got thrown in every 20 minutes. If you were ready to dance like a maniac between 6-10 then i think he played a good set...Im not sure if it was the molson centre echoes but it sounded as though he missed beat matches about 3 times....ah well cool set
Miss B: woooooo hooooo... still my favorite local dj and top 3 on my list with tiesto and avb. She played some of the hardest songs and the lighting for her set was phenomenal. The had the lights strobing and the 2 lasers moving none stop to the beat of her bobbing head. the only thing im pissed about in this entire night is that i heard only 45 minutes of her set because i was exhausted at 10:45 (no speed)
well thats celebration 2002....awesome lighting......most beautiful crowd of women i have ever seen in 1 place at once.....simply unbelievable. |

Here's my review,
bare with me here, I'm still a little bit tired and my mind hasn't quite come back in to focus yet!
Arrived at 10:00, was stuck in the lineup until 11:15, after making it through everything we hit the stands right before midnight. It was nice to watch the countdown, it looked anmazing (I may have some pics to post soon). I only heard the last 15mins of Eddys set, sounded like pretty good house.
I totally agree with Deli on his David Morales review, the set had some extreme good highs, but then would drop to quickly and linger with too weak of beats, at least that's my opinion. That was actually for sure my favorite time to ever hear Rapture, that's what set me away in a trance and kept me in one for the whole night...... pure bliss. Anyone who saw me must have known how ed up I was, I couldn't stop my eyes from rolling, and sometimes breathing was so deep that it made me sit down. I had a farely descent dance sesion the whole night, and I think I amused quite a few people, and hyped a whole lot up. I'm still yet to find someone that gets the same type of buzz as me, which is quite odd, and makes raving a little bit strange for me at times.
Xl set was descent but I was exepceting him to come on throwing a hard bass line, get people jumping, and keep it that way through his set. I felt the music was really off at times, maybe it was just me, but I thought a couple tracks thst were being blended in were making no sense, just stoping everyone on the floor from dancing, and not because they were tripping out.
Miss B played a good set, although I really wish she would have come on earlier, by the end of the night my muscles were getting to that extreme soreness point, I had blisters on my feet (first time for that at a party), and I couldn't dance how I wanted to, but couldn't stop trying either, so it was pretty frustrating.
Zing I would have loved to seen ya, but I defintely understand if you saw me and I just disapeard, that was something that was happening the whole night, when a vibe moves me, I follow, not matter what I'm doing. <----- I'm a fool, stoped dancing with some mad hot chicks many of times, just because something caught my eye and made me wander off!!
Somehow I went on a losing spree too, lost a pack of joints :( only got to smoke 1 out 16 (that would have made it a much better night for me if I had my pack), my electric green light, 6 unopend glowsticks, and 1 1/2 party supplies.
Overall review, great party, I give it a 8.5/10, could have done without the long lineups, would have loved to have more trance (there were actually a couple trance tracks played). The woman were just insane, my head was turning so much I wouldn't have been surprised if it poped off. God bless the beautiful Montreal, Quebec and out of town woman that made that party so good ;) I like the way they had the green lasers setup this time, other then that I actually didn't find the lighting to be that crazy. It was a fun way to celebrate New Years, the time flew by too fast, like it always does, and now there's dealing with the recouperation and the cough from waiting in that lineup!!!!
Anyhow, I hope everyone that went had a great time, and everyone that didnt go, had a great time, doing what ever it was you were doing...........suckas :p

ok generally it wasn't that bad , but it could have been better if there was no huge line at entrance , no scamming (ie coat check price) and more trance , right ? :p
by the way wasn't Max Graham supposed to play ?? or am i a crack head ?? :conf: :conf: :conf: |
