Why EDM will NEVER break america...imo! (pg. 4)

The reason kids never really get into the club scene is because we cant have fun at a club. The cops hear the electronic music and automatically send in undercover cops / raid the building / harass the club patrons.
Ive had four favorite clubs, in the city north and south of me. Of the four, three were raided while i was attending. One of them two times. Ive been to raided parties, followed till i left the city by police just waiting for me to drive over a line on the road so they could pull me. Clubbing seems to have a hard time around here because people dont want to go to jail :(
Also it seems what you are describing as teen agers fit in the 12-16 bracket which usually cant get in a club around here anyways :D (18+) or (21+) |

I think that it's more likely that it will be nuclear or biological weapons that breaks America :)
Which reminds me. Is breaks big in the US club scene? Or is it just that cheesy Tiesto/Corsten/Armin crap - you know, the stuff that EuroBarbie would play at her prom-night cheerleader party. |

I disagree completely with the OP. The reason trance isnt as big nationally here than somewhere else is because we have more diversity not less. You might only see what is shown on television but if you walked onto any school grounds, campus, or gathering place for young adults you would notice that the different tastes in music is diverse. What you see and hear(mainstream radio and MTV) that is popular are bands and individuals cattering to the pre-teens and young teenagers because they get their parent's money to buy cds at a greater rate than older music listeners. At the ages of 12-16 or so you listen to what your friends and others listen to not what you like and later you decide what your music taste is. It is sad that children are so influenced by each other and media but that is the way it works here.
In the end I believe that there are just as many people 17-30 in the United States that listen to EDM than other countries. Also many people are forgetting that most of today's "rap music" and "pop music" in the United States are forms of EDM, they just arent 4/4 music. |

I dont think trance will ever really gel with the US, you guys are far too up your own arse to let yourselves go enough to actually appreciate it... present TA company excluded ofcourse... lol :D |

| It's the lack of lyrics. Americans need vocals to sing along to, and EDM doesn't quite fit the bill. |

Thats a very good reason. Of course its not the only reason, but its one of probably 100 reasons why edm will never catch on in the usa. That also explains why songs like "as the rush comes" gain more popularity here than other songs. |

Ya that's why the last time I saw an EDM video on Muchmusic was back when Sandstorm was a hit. Of course, there are clubs that play EDM in North America but it doesn't get anywhere near the exposure that any of those other big genres get. That's a fact. |

That's also why mainstream radio stations will not play EDM. Songs like "Children" and "Sandstorm" only became popular in the mainstream because they got exposure on Top 40 radio. They are a couple of the exceptions to the rules when it comes to broadcast radio. Catchy, memorable lyrics are where it's at with mainstream media. Prime example is "My Humps". IMO, it's a stupid song, but it's definitely got catchy and memorable lyrics.:rolleyes: |

| Recent lack of rave parties due to continuous crackdowns from the law will most certainly not help in offering a primary exposure to the music to the youth which will form the core of the club followers in a couple years. |
