It's funny how our society is quick to freak out over 50 cent and an infected chicken in BC which poses absolutely no health risk to humans, yet thinks that somehow we are immune to terrorism which has already struck most of the western world.
I really dont understand this country most of the time...
| quote: | MONTREAL (AFP) - Detailed maps and other information about the Montreal metro system were discovered in March 2004 in a computer of a suspect in the terrorist attacks in Madrid, Canadian Transport Minister Jean Lapierre announced.
"They have confirmed to us the existence of this information in the personal computer belonging to this individual," Lapierre told a news conference, referring to Spanish authorities.
The minister was asked to comment on a report published in the Spanish newspaper El Pais, which disclosed that the individual in question was Moroccan student Abdelak Chergui, who was studying telecommunications.
Chergui was detained and questioned in May as part of an investigation into the March 11, 2004 terrorist bombings in Madrid that left 191 people dead and 1,900 wounded.
According to the newspaper, he was soon released because of a lack of incriminating evidence against him.
El Pais reported that Spanish investigators had discovered in his computer a map of the Montreal metro as well as technical data about railway cars and the location of seats.
The newspaper also said a map of the London subway as well as technical information about Spanish trains had been found in that computer.
"This intelligence has been shared with us," said the transport minister, adding that Canadian public transportation authorities have been apprised of the situation.
Lapierre declined to offer any additional information, arguing that the investigation of the Madrid bombings was still under way.
"One thing is clear," he insisted. "There is no immediate danger to the Canadian transportation system."
The minister said the government planned to spend 110 million Canadian dollars (94 million US dollars) to bolster security for the country's public transport network

today on my way to work i heard some TSN sports d00d on a radio station talking about CFL and the grey cup. at one point he started talking about how grey cup is far better than superbowl based on the fact that you dont have to get searched in order to attend the grey cup, whereas if u go to superbowl u will get searched like twice or maybe even 3 times. also how people at superbowl are afraid and they dont really enjoy the game blah blah blah blah.
i was thinking to myself hrmmm they search ppl cos they dont wanna deal with another 9/11 and cos its wise to do so regardless of any terrorists. Oklahoma bombing wasnt some terrorists it was jus a mad man and so on... it could happen in any country and specially Canada since its a close one to US and cos its much easier to do something in this country cos idiots like the above mentioned TSN dood think that its only other countries where bad happens. perhaps it would be a good idea to start searching ppl at a grey cup game cos if god forbid something does happen atleast the GOV wud have the balls to say " oh we tried to stop it "
i saw a documentary on TV about the security at the airports .... this Federal guy from US walked in and out of the pearson airport with a gun 3 times, was also able to sneak in bomb making explosive and also made his way into the restricted pilots area by just watching a pilot punch in his security code on one of the lock pads. |

i heard that in the radio.
Kind of freaky, but I believe we're not a prime target (yet).
Considering there's a great number of undercover csis agents in Montreal mosques doing a good job as we speak, I wouln't be too worried at this time. |

Eh. AQ have said that Canada's on their hitlist. I guess they just haven't got around to hitting us yet.
I do question their plan to hit Montreal though. I mean, I thought Quebec was the most anti war province in Canada. Wouldn't it make more sense to hit Toronto, Vancouver or Ottawa?
Hittin Mtl IMO would just push Canadians into fully supporting kicking terrorist ass. |
