Very true! Same for me...

I watched a DJ use Traktor to do a whole set once, but he actually used the pitch to match it up and not just use the sync button. Which to anyone that has used Traktor before can probably protest to this, is that the beatmatch function sucks and it is never accurate, it's about as accuarte as a behringer mixer BPM calcuator and it will cause you to keep hitting the sync button and the creativeness is gone by then and the track is over. My say is as long as your not hitting the stupid sync button and actually being a DJ and matching and EQing then I hold my hand out to you.

speaking of which.
i'll be playing at a party tommorrow with a friend.
we'll be running 2 laptops (with traktor - not midi synced), external 4 channel mixer, 1 kaos pad, and a 307 drum machine. it's not a big party but more like afterparty jamming session.
will let you guys know how it turns out.

like thousands of other trancers all over the world...
the max i'll be having next year if i work hard - Numark CDN-35 + Technics DJ1210(DH1200) + my DM1050. end! no CDJs, no SSL (dreaming...)no XOne92 hehehe

relax... =)

i really wish the VirtualDJ guys would do something about the VDJ sound & EQ. it the VDJ was as realistic sounding & EQing as Traktor, ide use VDJ 101%

like someone said before...unless you're producing your own tracks, cutting up and disecting other people's music and really going the extra mile in terms of creativity, using software is just a shortcut.

DJing is not just about making people dance, at least its not at the higher levels. I can walk into a random bar and mix Bon Jovi and Michael Jackson songs on a laptop and make people dance. In the EDM scene here in New York it is most definitely about playing quality music, but just as importantly its about putting in the time to learn the craft. Any can download the demo version of a mixing program and start mixing songs and get people to dance to it. Putting in the time to perfect the ART of spinning records takes years and, in my mind at least, separates true djs from the wannabes.

it's not like the sync button actually perfectly syncs the two tracks anyways. you always gotta fine tune tempo to get it to flow seamlessly.

personally, i think using traktor is pretty much the same as using two cdj's. both are kinda cheating imo.

Someone that plays music that makes people dance at a club, disco, bar, school party or birthday party can call himself a dj...period.

Armin played many sets on Pioneer CDJ1000 MK2. Just a month ago Tiesto played at Avalon in Boston, just using 2 Pioneer CDJ1000 MK2 and a mixer. Outcome??? It was awesome.
Can you say they've been cheating?
blacknoizybox
playing other peoples' music is cheating if to say globaly, so relax....
