Problems: New user of Pioneer CDJ 200

this is a great machine, but i cant get a hang of it and its really pissing me off.
i bought it used, so no manual.
i just cant get a hold of beatmatcing well at all, the joggle is either too sensitive, or i dont know it well yet. i think its both.
can anyone give me tips other than "practice, practice" cz im already doing that.
so my major problem is that i cant match the tempo with the other track playing. more than that, i cant speed up or down with the joggle for . i taped a side of the joggle so i know how much im moving.
is the joggle sensitive to movement distance or pressure? meaning if i turn the joggle 90 degrees in a second or in 0.4 second, would it advance the song more or is it the same?

| try using the pitch slider to match the beats up. the closer you have the slider to the "sweet spot" the less you will need to use corrections on the toggle |

do you not have 2? i have 2 200's and i match the tempo as closely as possible with the pitch sliders and then match them up by working with the jog dial. i believe the jog dial is sensitive to distance, not speed.
the owner's manual is available for download at pioneer's site btw. |

the faster you move the jog wheel, the faster it will pitch bend up
seriously though...
practice
you're going to want to bash your head against the wall and you will more than likely get discouraged, push through and it will just click one day

im not hating it, but u know sometimes i get discouraged just cz its literally taking me 30 minutes to beatmatch a song perfectly.
i dont have 2 players, i have a numark cd 1 piece of i got a long ago to get started. pitch on that machine moves by .1
i have it pitched to closest as possible, but i just suck at the joggle.
reminds me of the first time i ever mixed, same type of feelings and difficulty. i guess thats normal.
p.s. is switching to cdj1000 later on will be easier after cdj200 or is it a total different feel? |

Here's my theory which I believe should be stickied.
Push it forward A LOT but SLOWLY, if it MATCHES beats and gets synced. You put the pitch up..keep doing that untill it's matched. (This can easily be done using the pitch bend buttons)
Do the same for slower.
And remember 6% will always give you more accuracy.
Cue it up on a beat. (Press play/pause in the headphones will be some funky stuff. Get the beginning of a kick...hit play when you want to bring the song on...it should be matched when you bring it it. Practice if you can't get it matched when bringing it in) |

It shouldn't be completely foreign, but the distance/speed at which you need to move the jog wheel is different.

IMO, there is no pitch bend button on the cdj200, do u know if there is, maybe u have the same player or u might be comparing it with the cdj1000 or 800
im new to double digit decimal for pitch, so i guess thats wuts making it hard.
thanx for the tips, i would always like more! |

Pitch Bend On CDJ 200's = Large Silver Platter In Middle
Put it on 10% if you're too confused, go to %6 when you have 10% down. |

to the original guy that posted this...if you manage to find this website how in the world did you not find the pioneer website?...go to their website and they have manuals for each of their products...they can be downloaded (of course you need adobe reader)...
if that is not available to you then try any sites taht sell them they will have a link to a manual and features. |

well. the wheel is VERY sensitive, IMO.
i have one, and i love it. my advice is, well, treat it real good. i can compare my unit to a friends, and his is a bit beat up, making the jogwheel SUPER soft, and ing me up whenevr i mix with it. theres a chance maybe the original owner didn't respect it too much.
other than that, just keep going at it. the pitch at +/-6% is your best shot at precision as well (i wonder why the unit doesnt go to 6% automatically when you power on, instead of 10%).

alligator: sorry man, i didnt know they have the manual on the website. i really apologize.
to the last poster:
maybe the previous owner did mess up with the wheel. how can i take care of it and not mess it up? not spin it fast or hard?
is it only my devices problem that sometimes it automatically speeds up or down by .02 ?
and do you think its sensitive to the distance of movement or speed of movement?
