Wow, you guys are way off. You're blaming the players and the coaches?
It's the stupid "hands-on" team owners that have messed everything up. Don't know about the sport (and I'm not just talking about the game, I'm talking about all the wheeling and dealing) but insist on being involved in every important decision.
This team is doomed unless it gets sold to someone with half a brain. |

get him outta here and you'll have a great basketball team on your hands... such a simple solution, but so hardly doable. |

that 2nd quarter was hard to watch sometimes...the inconsistency is maddening.
but when they click...watching Bosh and Charlie V out there...so much talent and effort between them. I'm liking Calderon a lot...and it was good to see Jalen have a good game too.
No disrespect to Harrington and Johnson...but when those two guys keep scoring at will, you know your defense isn't exactly top notch.
we need a real centre so badly, it's not funny... |

^Raps need a serious lesson in defence. If the other team drives, the Raps defence wrecks like Tiesto or something.
The amount of layups and dunks and alley oops that the Hawks had was just annoying. |

Why are we surprised the raptors are gonna finish last this season? And more importantly, why is that a bad thing?
Babcame into the GM role, in probably the worst situation one can have as a GM. No cap space, disgruntled players, and for the most part several large contracts with very little in the way of return from his players.
So, what has he done? Nothing. He's taken all the necessary time to wipe the slate completely clean so that when the time comes, he can build a team completely from the ground up. Seriously, if Babhad forced the issue for more out of a trade with Carter, we'd have more talent on our team now, more wins, but we'd be nowhere near the playoffs. Where we'd be is in the deadly middle-ground, where you can finish with a .400 average, get a 10-15th pick in the draft and be stuck in the same scenario next year. That being said, if he doesn't at least try hide that fact to the NBA by picking up players with moderately long contracts, he'd be investigated by the league for throwing games, so he took on Aaron Williams, and Eric Williams. Remember the Ottawa Senators all those years ago were investgated for 'throwing' the last games of the season for higher draft picks? Same thing.
But, What's going to happen after this season? We'll be rid of all the extremely bloated contracts, especially Jalen Rose, and have the most CAP space of ANYONE in the league. Couple that with two first round draft picks, Bosh and Charlie V still under rookie contracts, with a point guard on the rise with Jose Calderon, and some more talent in Europe [I forget the guy's name], who will probably reconsider who drafted him and come play for us next year. To me, that sounds pretty promising.
I'm not saying that our free agent signings are gonna be personalle along the lines of all stars, but if we draft well, especially with what should be a top 3 pick, sign some solid veteran leadership, the future will look bright for the raptors, and you'll all be singing praises for Babcock. Remember what happened with the signing of Willis, Brown, Curry, and Oakley to the young raptor core of McGrady, and Carter? Those veterans were hardly 'stars' scoring 20+ a night, but they guided the youth on the team and kept them focused on making the team better. Building around youth, and creating a consistantly strong franchise takes patience. And it finally seems promising that the raptors have got the right idea.
But if Babtruly did arrive in this situation serendipitously, and both signs badly in the offseason and drafts badly, then I'll be on the other side of the fence with you screaming for his head. But until then, I'll give him until after the next offseason |
