Maybe trance has finally evolved...

Now I have to admit right off the bat. If I had to pick my favourite year(s) for trance it would have to be either '99, about when I first started getting into the genre, and 2002 to 2003 (lots of tracks there that I like). But I also have to say, this year has been absolutely amazing. And I think it is really safe to say that trance has really evolved into a new sound. Yes, there is less melodic tracks, which is the sound I first began to love, but we now have a mixture of new sounds. It seems that with all of these new genres on the rise trance has taken elements from each one. When I listen to dj sets live or at home from 2005 I hear a lot more hard driving beats with tech sounds, house sounds, progressive sounds and more. I think it has cought a lot by surprise which is why some don't like this year in trance. It did happen quite fast and wasn't a slow evolution to say the least. But I believe it is something that won't take too long to get used to.

it hasn't evolved...its just most people around haven't been introduced to these kinda songs before...some are liking it...some aren't. besides that traditionally trance dj's like tiesto, armin...are starting to play more of it because it's getting popular. it has nothing to do with trance evolving, but other genres becoming more popular...

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmNO, trance this year has absolutely been less melodic then previous years in trance. Elements and ideas ARE being taking by all the genres. House today isn't the same as it was 5 years ago. Listen, there are elements from other genres there. Its not like this is a bad thing its just that the sound is different.

ok you give me an example of a house tune today...or a trance tune today and i'll try to give you an example of a tune with a similar sound from 4-5 years ago...

i'm not saying that music hasn't changed at all, but i think it's been there a lot longer than people think...

I think it all comes once more down to the personal understanding of the term trance.Because if u think that trance is all about cool sounds that sound exotic etc then 2004-2005 is ur age
