What i dont hate is Hot 103 which is what they used to be called when they were good. |

danny isnt THAT bad of a dj. He does have some skillz..but spinning for the radio like that he bascially chooses next to nothing. he has to spin certain things. hes not really in control. as ive said before. ive run into him at traxx buying some good trance tracks that he typically plays when hes at the club. which is then ed over buy playing hip hop etc, but its the clubs he plays. he probably makes more (steady) money spinning the way he does.
cant hate him for that.
HITS 103.5 was decent back in the day...but yes have been getting worse..well actually they go in cycles...,,,get a little better...then more ...then back to semi ok..then :crazy:
i rarely listen to radio anymore..if i do it sometimes is z103. you can still catch the odd decent song on there. i agree that energy 108 was the best times. and even if stations are crap today, its because of them that we got exposed to some of the stuff we did.... (and napster ;) ) |

Well I say that loosely, because there are A LOT of people that go to see Cox or Digweed because they are bandwagoners, not because they TRULY like the music or the show that say Cox may put on.
Then again, a large chunk of the Toronto club scene seems to be bandwagoners and trend whores. There are notable exceptions of course.
There are also the inevitable "cheese" comments, that practically any track can be labelled as, which is almost always simply based on how popular or overplayed it is.
Meh, I don't really care. I choose to ignore all these people, especially the so-called "trance addicts" who like nothing more than house and progressive, and then turn away their snobby backs on actual trance music, true trance music.
*sigh* I wish our scene more resembled Germany's scene, or Europe in general. |

Sure.. they do occasionally play some good tracks.. just alot of it isnt. The music they play does little to define the genre that they claim it to be part of. The only good thing I can say, is that Z103 is the only radio station which actually plays some form of EDM. Even though alot of it is still commercial, it will still interest people into the world of EDM so that they can truly find the style of music which best suits them.
Also.. at Labour Of Love, I was first in line.. but only to hear Blank & Jones, Armin & Schulz.

Well that I agree with. Z103 is often incorrect with what they call "trance" and things like that.
And yes, they DO overplay a lot of tracks, but at the same time, they do once in a while play good house tracks. Thank the fact that house is really popular right now.
haha ... I couldn't get in to Labour of Love ... tickets sold out way too fast ... next time im buying advance tickets :D . Still pissed I missed Blank and Jones, as well as Armin, they both dropped some banging sets, especially B & J. |

A lot of DJs inevitably DO play popular and/or commercial tunes, just to get the crowd going, or to judge the atmosphere.
Lately, Armin's ASOT shows have been anything but commercial, with him dropping some VERY underground tunes, as well as more commercial ones.
Although I will admit Armin's sets in general tend to be a *bit* more commercial than his ASOT sets, at least in the recent while. |

Basically, I hate what 103.5 has BECOME.
I always have and always will love what they USED to be. Hot 103.5, and Hits 103.5. I grew up on that stuff, and it was a leading reason why I feel in love with eurodance :tongue2 |

Hits 103.5 too Jay! I really enjoyed it when it was that. But you're right, IMO, "Z" 103.5 has turned into a much different (less enjoyable) animal.
P.S> And WOW! :disbelief just saying "hot 103.5 " brings back public school memories and early highschool too i guess!
