I know this thread is just to inform us of the new location... but honestly, I hope with this new move for the new year Yaz develops some customer service skills too.
I know it's not easy to run a business like he does and the vinyl market is going through rough times... but when somebody approaches you and asks to submit a list of about 8-10 techno titles every few weeks to be ordered from europe mainly, and all he has to do really is key in the order and get his cut but still refuses to do so, I have to give up on techno suppliers in Montreal. That was one of my efforts to 'support local shops', instead since moving to Montreal I have continued what I have done for over 3 years now and just order directly from the UK.
Yaz's response when I asked if he would be willing to try to order some titles for me..
" well I get new stuff every week... stop by the store"
sorry, but I can't imagine limiting my techno purchases to the 5 new titles he got that week.
Anyway, I wish him all the best with the move and his store, but I refuse to shop there again and I won't. |

Dear Manus, beetween july 2001 and december 2005 ( 4 years and 5 months, this equal to 230 weeks) I got more than 12 000 differents references. 12 000 / 230 = 52.17 differents references (titles) per weeks. It's more than 10 times the ridiculous 5 records that you're talking... I agree that the vinyl industry is going down... But what do you want, I am a nostalgic.
Merry Chrismas and Happy New Year to everybody. |

Yaz, my post was intended to actually serve as a bit of *constructive* criticism, and your reply I think further emphasizes your lack of customer service skills.
I highly doubt the number you just gave reflects your current weekly order of unique techno titles which is what I was basing my comment on. This is all beside the point, whether you have 5 or 25 new techno records to choose from, odds are there are only a few that would have been on the list of records I planned to buy that week. Unless your prices have recently changed, I also seem to remember many titles would sell for $17.99+tax… basically giving me zero incentive to do any business with you because I can do a full order with a UK supplier and have them deliver it fed ex to my door the next day for the same price per record. At least with a few other stores in Montreal the records are priced at less than $15 each so you save a few dollars anyway.
I am again pointing out the lack of customer service because I find it strange that instead of taking the opportunity to tell people you will do what you can to order titles they are looking to buy or something along those lines, you choose to comment on the number of records you have ordered in the last 4 years which is irrelevant to the person going to buy something specific from your store today. Call me naïve but I guess I just assumed in this day and age it makes more sense to try to hook up ten specific records that someone has requested than order 10 you have picked out and hope they will sell.
As I did mention before, I do sincerely wish you success with your new location!

| I agree with you Kate, but for me the funnest part about Vinyl shopping is the crate digging and searching.IMO its worth the few extra bucks cause its so relaxing and i could spend hours doing it. |
