sorry for your loss, lisa :(
not a cat person myself, but had lots of dogs in the family & esp my grandparents I loved to bits. have one now but he's only 4, but my auntie has a cat whos 18 and going strong, scary really. worst part about having a pet though, knowing you'll outlive them :( |

Well we had a cat once when I was a kid but it would never come out of its hiding place and it would scratch me or my sis. Then we got a dog and it was cool as hell and Ive been a dog person ever since. Im sure cats are cool as hell if you get a good one but Ive never had that experience so. |

you gotta raise cats, if you treat a cat like crap it's gonna grow up antisocial much like a child would
my cat died from kidney failure too, it was very sad
then we got two new cats! you gotta get more than one! |

Im sorry i know how you feel I LOVE CATS and i have had to put some down.:( But my baby is back home her name is snickers. Shes the kittay in this picture If she dies im going to be lost theres no telling what i might do.:nervous: :( But im going to do what they did with the dog in joe dirt and keep it with me all the time. I think you should do that. Cause i have that kind of bond with my kittay as you probably did.
EDIT: I have also spent tons of money on her. She had babies and she wasnt even 1 year old and she was pushing to hard and her uteris (sp?) was hanging out she had to have a histerectmy. And then she fractured her elbow and had to put a pin in there. $$$$$$$$$$$$ |

i am pretty sad, he was 14 and we took him in from the outside when he was a kitten. he was sick earlier this year after i left home. my family says he really went downhill after i left. i would have taken him with me, but i didnt want to put him thru quarantine, b/c he was old. i just came home on Saturday. so i cant help but feel guilty, b/c he was really attached to me. we did as much as we could for him, but there is a point when the cat just gets old that you cant put them thru so much. that and vets can be soo damn expensive. my family spent a thousand on the cat earlier in the year when he was sick and it helped him, but then he got sick again last week. i believe we did all that we could. my dad said he waited until i got home to die :(.
it wouldnt be so bad, but i also have an 18 year old cat that is ready to go soon. she is just old and we went to the vet yesterday and her kidneys are going. she is still able to walk and do daily functions, but i do not want to have to make the decision of putting her to sleep.
it just really sucks. |
my cat is 14, and his age is definatly obvious. lucky though, he's a health geezer, and very attached to me. matter of fact, he's in my lap right now. when i get home, he follows me and meows and tries to get some attention. we chill watching tv, chill on the computer, i sleep with him like he's a stuffed animal at night. he's more like a dog. i could run the vacuum cleaner and he just gives me that look of, "wtf u running that now, im trying to get some sun."
but he goes up the stairs one stair at a time, and always stops halfway because he gets tired. but when i give him that cat nip, he turns into a kitten again for 5 minutes. i love my cat, and i know he's in his later years, so i try to give this cat as much affection as i can, because he wont last forever, i can see his years are numbered. |

sorry for your loss.
i'm normally not one to shed tears but i cried my heart out when my cat died. he was 12 yrs old. when he died his brother (we kept them together since they were kittens) went insane. kept roaming the house all night mewwing and yowling looking for his bro. kept randomly attacking people in the house too. it was depressing. |
