i still have yet to meet anyone who had a pretty "normal" upbringing who does drugs. it seems like pretty much everyone who does drugs on a weekend basis had a disfunctional childhood. and i don't mean that everyone who does drugs was tortured and beaten as a child...simply being a child of divorce would count. |
I'd guess that a childhood that would meet your standards for normalcy is actually rather rare. |

well i think of my boyfriend. the only major thing that happened to him in his life was his parents' divorce when he was like 15 and the fact that he had really bad acne up until about 2 years ago. so he was pretty insecure, but he just focused on school and basketball. he still had friends though (because he was like the star basketball player), but not a lot of girlfriends. he has never touched drugs and doesn't even drink. i've met most of his family and they all seem pretty cool. i mean, i doubt there was any abuse or anything going on.
maybe in his extended family...who knows. but his immediate family seems pretty damn normal. just a regular middle class family from Ohio...they all get along and love each other, yada yada. |

isn't it hereditary too? i have some alcoholism in my family and also, my dad was a MAJOR MAJOR pothead when he was in his early 20's. my mom said he was like the biggest loser ever and he had major temper problems so he smoked weed all the time to self medicate (why they divorced). but then he went to counselling and college and made a complete turnaround. if u met my dad you would never in a million years think that he ever even touched drugs. he's like mr. mellow nice guy who likes to cook and throw parties and wears docker khakis with polos...he's so clean cut now and he's very smart. it's weird to look at him and picture him like my mom tells me. i'm glad i was too young to see that side of him. but when i hear stories about him, i think, "wow, i'm a lot like him".
i'm a lot like my mom, but only in our mannerisms n stuff, and i'm sure a lot of it has to do with the fact that i'm around her all the time... but when it comes down to it, i'm like my dad's mini me of him when he was younger. |
heh, i'm pretty much the same way... i'm a lot like my mom, but i think my personality is much closer to my dad's - we have the same twisted sense of humor and we handle a lot of things the same way.
i never asked either of my parents if they experimented with drugs when they were younger... i don't think my mom did at all. i know she tried pot but i don't think she was the type of hippie that was gettin' stoned all the time. my dad though... who knows, he was probably a partier, lol. i had to have gotten my crackiness from somewhere, right?
i don't know my dad's family very well, but i always thought it was very odd that NO ONE in my mom's extended family smokes/drinks/parties... they're all clean-cut church-going folks. i don't know anyone who had a history of alcohol/drug abuse.
it's also very interesting to see how family and upbringing affects other people... my 2 ex-boyfriends had very different upbringings, and it's very apparent by the way they use drugs/alcohol. they're both perfectly predictable examples of the theory "drug use [or abuse] is an outcome of a bad childhood". |

Nuff said. You want an outlet for your coke use, even if it is behind your boyfriend's back and dont know how to act. Sorry kiddo.
You're a druggy @ 19 years of age... accept it. |

lol
quit acting like you know me, i'm 24, not 19...and i don't do drugs anymore. you should read a few more of my posts since that one you're talking about back in august:p
i'm assuming you're talking about that one about me taking a few bumps the night of my girlfriend's birthday back in early august while i had my "date" with me at the time (now boyfriend)...i would a hardly count that as doing drugs behind my boyfriend's back. i had only met him like a month before that, we were just dating. |
