Lol. I've always been annoyed the way people (myself included) just watch DJs these days. Way back when, I wouldn't pay any attention to them. They were hired help as far as I was concerned. I remember going to some clubs were you couldn't hardly see the DJ.

Oh well. I will be up front and center on NYE waving my arms at the DJ like an idiot!

I think the 'problem', and the root of this whole (dumbass) anti/pro tiesto discussion, is that trance music by its nature is very different from rock/pop.

Instead of being performed live, it is made by young kinds in their bedrooms. (like me). The only way to get it out to a live audience is through a DJ. A lot of the producers, however, are calm, shy people who don't wish to be performing in front of a large crowd, they just want to make music.

The result being that the most loud-mouthed, glamorous or streetwise DJ's get to the top, and become the only faces of the whole trance scene.

People bitch about this, but the fact is, there's just no other way. It's in the nature of the music. I don't know why everybody keeps glorifying raves... Woohoo, at raves nobody cared about the DJ. Doesn't sound like the perfect solution to me.

I guess there just isn't a perfect solution. Trance music has become more popular (no, it's not dying. and the ice caps aren't melting. look at the numbers), and people wanted to see faces to connect with that great music they were hearing (that's my theory, anyway). Which meant that DJ's who actually cared about their appearence, showmanship etc. became more popular, as cheesy as it might be.

If you really hate the attention that tiesto is getting, start sending e-mails to your favorite producers and tell them to stop sending their stuff to Tiesto, and instead start playing it themselves.

p.s. Tiesto played Thomas Bronzwaer - Shadow World on his 12-3-2005 set at Heineken music hall. :) I am glad you are playing your stuff too. :)

I know he did. And I'm glad he did. that's my whole point ;) let him throw all the cheesy concerts in the world, and raise public awareness about trance. then, a ton of people will know what it is, like it, and start filtering out the cheesy stuff. more fans and more TAers.
