Kenosis - Quantum Tunneling
12.7.05
bitrate: 192 kbps
genre: JOOF-style trance
Quantum Tunneling – is the quantum-mechanical effect of transitioning through a classically-forbidden energy state. Consider a particle with energy E in the inner region of a one-dimensional potential well V(x). In classical mechanics, if E < V (the maximum height of the potential barrier), the particle remains in the well forever; if E > V , the particle escapes. In quantum mechanics the particle can escape even if its energy E is below the height of the barrier V , although the probability of escape is small unless E is close to V . In that case, the particle may tunnel through the potential barrier and emerge with the same energy E.
Although tunneling may seem abstract and far removed from reality, it is a actually a basic and important processes of nature. It is vital, for example, in the very first step of the thermonuclear reaction which powers the Sun.
Inflationary Big Bang Cosmology proposes that the universe began at a state of no geometry (i.e., a universe with nothing, not even time) and then a tunneling occurred, allowing the universe to pass from the state of "nothing" to "something" (the "false vacuum") by tunneling (Guth 1997).
Tracklisting:
Chakra – Opacity
Odyssee – Behind the Falls
Matt Darey – Eternity (JOOF remix)
LSG – Netherworld (Oliver Prime remix)
Aquatica – The Access Code
X-Noize – Blind Spot
JOOF vs Astrix – Third Time Lucky
Zirrex – The Solar System, pt 2.
X-Noize – Breaking the Toys
Bamboo Forest – Techno-Logic
Many of the tracks are on smaller labels or have only been released on psytrance compilations. Besides the Aquatica track all of them are from 2005; most of them have had recent releases. If you've been listening to Mr. Fleming for the past 6 months you'll recognize some of these. Let me know what you think!

HAHA, yeah. I've been playing Netherworld for over 10 months now :D. Glad you enjoyed it.
Btw guys, this mix will also be on Party107.com next week on December 15 at 9pm (Eastern time, I think....what time is it exactly, Trancespeeder?)!
Keep the comments coming in! |

the fact that this set has a track mixed by Oliver Prime and the weird physics-story made me download this (it's not that I'm interested in physics, just the fact you wrote down such a story)
will post comments later |

LSG - Netherworld (Oliver Prime remix) is the best track of 2005: period. Amazing, amazing, amazing 9.9/10: Strange World is the only track I like more. The only problem is that the zero pitch bpms are at 137 or something like that, though the track sounds the best at 141 bpm.
Stories to go along with mix titles are fun :D. I had one last year called "Orbis Tertius" which of course comes from the title of a Jorge Luis Borges short story.
Let me know what you think! |

First of all, I'm not a psytrance fan. I think it's fun from time to time but all those weird noises make me go crazy. Listening to psy for a few hours brings you in a state of mind no drug can ever take you in: whaaaaaaaaa :eyes: :wtf: :nervous:
The psy I do like is the psy without too much of those noises and a great influence of trance and dark atmospheric sounds, like Oliver Prime (Radiance is IMO the best psy track ever) and J00F from time to time
I like the first part of this set, that LSG-track is great, not the best, but I can hear you on Strange World; M.I.K.E. is god, period.
Transitions are good, I'm not an expert, but I didn't hear any bad ones. After the 30 minutes mark it gets to psyish for me, no bad mixes, just my taste. thx for providing, was enjoyable listening and commenting :-) |

Thanks for the feedback, man. I'm also personally not into the psytrance that devolves into a bunch of bleeps, sounds of can openers, or what have you. It sounds too much like uk hardhouse without the hoover vacuum sound. It usually has to be melodic for me. The latter half of the set moves a bit away from pure melodic psytrance, but I liked the individual tracks well enough. I adore 'Third Time Lucky' in the same way that 'Twisted', another JOOF collaboration (w/ Miika Kuisma) a year ago, was good, and the others following it seemed to fit reasonably well (that Zirrex track is *crazy*!, though :D).
You know that MIKE just finished a rework of Strange World, right? It is due out in January and sounds pretty good (though the 2000 remake is still king in my eyes). |

haha, i thought the first track was from the amateur producer forum.. until i saw the tracklist :D such a simple production..
don't get me wrong though.. its simplicity is what makes it so good.. too many producers focus on getting as much sounds as possible in their tracks nowadays, whereas Opacity is produced with emotion.
anyway, i'm halfway through and all of the tracks have been great so far.. loving your set :) mixing is good too. |
