All kinds of animal hunting should be banned IMO - so that shouldnt be an excuse... but thats another story.

I agree that guns should be banned from everyone except the authorities.

I enjoy going to the gun range and doing competition skeet shooting and that....it is very relaxing and with some of the courses there are it's like a round of golf.

Hunting is very important as Jayx1 said.....the bear scenario isn't the best but deer is a very good one. Deer populations have been growing so rapidly that they not only become a danger to themselves with lack of food and too much disease but also become a danger to humans. The same can be said with many birds and the like. That is why there are gaming control measures

this is pretty dumb. THere are lots of responsible people out ther who own hand guns, and this just punishes them.

Having a gun isnt bad if you use it for recreational/collecting purposes. I am sure going to a firing range is fun. I have always wanted to try it.

It's fun. Men always liked things that go boom for some reason. :D

If you ever need advice in shooting, let me know. :)

Sorry, but it's conclusively proven all over the world that gun control laws actually increase the rate of gun crime (and that is adjusted for the crime that is created by default due to "possession" issues). If gun control laws don't work, certainly an all-out ban isn't going to work. Think about it - if somebody is willing to break the law in order to murder another human being, do you REALLY think they're going to give a about breaking the law to obtain a weapon?

Unfortunately, I think people are reading this wrong. It's not just a political move. The thing is, gun control (as opposed to a ban) still allows people to have guns. A ban would presumably eliminate all guns - and subsequently, the most significant form of resistance. The first step an oppressive government takes in order to control its citizens is always to disarm them.

Make no mistake, this is a preview of something far more sinister if the Liberals are allowed to remain in power. They've been in charge for 3 terms, they're expecting to win yet another election, and they've gotten away with every scandal so far without so much as a slap on the wrists. I believe they now realize that they can do whatever they want and will sooner or later be taking active steps to make absolutely sure that they remain in power for a long, long time.

I've shot hand guns and was never really all that impressed...they are kinda boring since you mostly shoot at a fixed object...same with rifles.

Give me my 12 guage anyday. I love hitting the skeet in the winter and just watching those little disks turn to dust.

Eh. I do timed shoots and pop up shoots with rifles. Don't get to play with pistols a lot though. Enjoy doing one hand duelist stand thing.

Pfft on shotgun. Move on to machineguns and rocket launchers. ;)

while I'd love to jump in and challenge our local TOTA Conservatives....

This actually has me a little bit dumbstruck. "Banning guns" is a cool sounding idea on paper (how nice it would be to live in a country where there were no guns anywhere...) but right now, it's not going to make the guns disappear from the hands of Toronto gangs, the problem is much more complicated than that.

But I'm not voting Liberal... so whatever.

Since when people go for hunting with a handgun on a duck or a bear?

unless you own one of those desert eagles and can handle that kind of power.

some hunting is actually necissary. for example, humans have made it very easy for bears to survive the winter up north. Since we leave open garbage dumps the bears are able to feed much easier and expand in numbers. It is now necissary to have a bear hunt in order to keep the bear population to normal natural levels.

Not to mention that natives claim it to be their birthright. Which i tend to disagree with. But thats a whole other jerry springer show.

Jay,do you actually own any hand gun ? or is it just another IHATELIBERALSBECAUSISUFFERFROMPARANOIA thing?

RobbyG.
It has to come down to someone in Martin's family getting shot before it FINALLY sinks in....LOCK away these ******s who are NOT legal gun owners & that commit these gun crimes...better yet...hang the s or ship back to where they came from & let them rot in their jails instead of US paying for their 3 square meals & healthcare:whip: :whip: :whip:

I voted liberal last time and am tempted to this time, but like this makes me not want to. but why the does harper have to be such a useless bag.
wtf

again, the ban is for handgun(and related weapons), things such as long barreled guns(hunting rifles etc) are exempt from this ban. obviously to appeal to the more northern/prarie folks.

i dont see how banning handguns will solve anything at all since most of the guns in crimes are illegal weapons(smuggled in from the us).

lots of people use guns for sport(targets) , fun and possibly home protection.

infact one day i hope to be able to own a few and head down to the local range, it is quite a lot of fun. and this ban would make it not possible for me to do so. gheyyyyyyyyyyyy!

lets all ban alcohol cause some douche decides to drive home drunk..or ban cars for same reason. it doesnt solve the problem at all!
