Beach Breaks Out in Violence - Australians: "No more lebs"

ANGRY crowds have singled out and bashed people of Middle Eastern appearance at Sydney's Cronulla beach as racial tension erupted into violence.
And an ambulance called to the scene to treat five people injured in today's violence has been attacked by a mob who shattered its windows.
Meanwhile, police have been pelted with beer bottles, and their patrol cars stomped on, as the outnumbered officers struggled to maintain control.
Witnesses saw officers using capsicum spray in a bid to quell those perpetrating the violence.
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Goodwin said police were forcing their way through the crowd, trying to prevent further attacks.

I wish the article actually used adjectives to describe who got hurt or who the lifeguards were that got attacked. Every description for both sides is "men", not Anglo-Men then did this or Middle-Eastern Men then attacked but just men. This author couldnt be more vague in this article unless he said human being.
After reading the blogs here it is purely a gang mentality on both sides. The blogs are responding to the beat down of the lifeguards. If you get 6+ people together they will spur each other on to violence. This isnt a Muslim hate crime story, it's a story about gang violence and lack of security at a relaxed beach community. |

| ^^ bits & pieces. i hate blogs ;) every news proprietor is labelling this as racially motivated. now, im not saying theyre necessarily correct, but it would take more than a blog to convince me otherwise. |

very true; but when you have a crowd of 1000s, many of whome are chanting anti lebanese or middle-eastern slogans, then im inclined to suspect racial motivation. especially since the bashing of lifeguards by (apparently) lebanese youths.
oh, one of our lovely nazi groups was apparently there to show their support too

there's not alot to be patriotic about nowadays is there :| oh well only four more months until i'm living overseas... |
