| It's strange that in a world of knockoffs and commodities ...especially since music is the most widely listened to art form, and internet has reached almost every corner of the world .that there are no other decent players. Sure u have realplayer etc, but i mean players dedicated to the music lover, really in ironic that winamp is like the only one. I'd figure people would jump on it and make better progs. |

You will need plugins. Go to the Apollo homepage and look for them. A part of the plugins (especially input plugins) is stored on the Apollo homepage. There u will also find a small program, that will read your Winamp equalizer settings and will convert them to Apollo equalizer settings.
But now the more interesting thing: the plugin interface API for "general plugins", "DSP plugins", and for "visualization plugins" is exactly the same as for Winamp 5. You can use all these plugins from Winamp and they will work with Apollo. Nice eh? Winamp offers a huge load of such plugins and u can use them with Apollo. |
Thanks for the info and for suggesting Apollo, its really much better than Winamp. |

I won't use winamp anymore...AOL bought it and now it keeps on asking me if I want to upgrade to the full version, after telling it "No" repeatedly.
I use foobar2000 for all my music listening. Its incredibly lightweight, yet has about 100x the features winamp has. Its truly a wonderful program. The interface right after you install it doesn't look the best...but give it a chance, learn the myriad of features and configurations there are, and you'll learn how to customize it and come to love it as I do. Highly recommended! |
foobar2000 is the way too goo |

Apollo reads ID3 tags. So what do you want more? Don't you have any ID3-tag editor? Or do you want to change the ID3-tags of your files quite often? |
APOLLO ROX ... its not at all bloated and exactly what i needed ... thanks and cheers :) |

I can confirm Apollo makes the mp3's sound better than winamp. This with a above avg headset. |
And I can confirm MixMeister 5 outperforms Winamp 5, also above avg headset (Sennheiser HD-545). So Winamp must do something wrong? |

You could go to an older version of winamp. I never use the modern skins, to keep speed and cpu usage low. 2.9 was good, you can get it from www.oldversion.com |
2.9 is the daddy. |
