i know this movie is only out on limited release right now and i personally havent seen it, but what do you guys think. it definitely covers a very touchy subject for most poeple. I think that most people who see it will wait until it comes out on DVD because a lot of people will be a little scared to publically allow themselves to see it and would most likely want to watch it in the privacy of their own home where they cant be judged by those who would be against it. my girlfriend and I are most likely going to go see it. i know that although I am completely okay with homosexuality, when theres parts where they're actually kissing and stuff i'm going to feel a little uncomofortable. Its not that I'm homophobic. I mean, i'm friends with a number of gay poeple and its ok with me, but considering its such a touchy subject and still not very socially acceptable nor exploited, itll be tough to watch at points.
I am excited to see it though. I've heard its an amazing movie and its got a lot of great reviews.

it got rave reviews, and won best picture award at the los angelas independent film festival .. so i guess it is a good movie ...
it only showed in 5 theaters last week .. they plan to open some more later .. i know theyre afraid to open the theaters in the bigger markets, because the bible-thumpers and homophobics are going to start protesting in front of the theater how it is a bad movie and everything ...
 ..
personally, it's just a way of life, and we have to deal with it , |

Well this about that... this is the first HOLLYWOOD movie that "touches" the subject of homosexuality...and everyone is going nuts over it.
I don't understand that because numerous independent and foreign films have graced this particular topic already. I mean yeah, the majority of people in this country don't know a whole lot about foreign or Independent films, they take what HOllywood throws at them.
Personally I think it's a big hooplah. A film is made to tell a story, maybe teach us a lesson or two about life, it's a cultural artifact. I don't think it should be as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be.
And Ang Lee's best work (imo) is The Ice Storm (based on the novel by Rick Moody). |

| Annie Prolux is a GREAT author. I studied her text (CLose Range) two years ago in my first year at Uni (for American Studies) and I found it really gripping. Can't wait to see this. |

It's a love story.
If you're:
a. In love
b. Was in love
c. Wanna be in love
...then you should see it. |

I have no interest in a movie about gay cowboys.
Nothing against homosexuals or cowboys, but neither interest me. |

Have you actually read the book? Ang Lee failed miserably with that movie... |
