obviously... hence the "tongue-sticking-out-being-silly" emoticon. ;)

so you're telling me that if you have a service plan that's good for another year, you wouldn't try to use it? you'd go out and drop $300 on a brand new camera?

Don't listen to Mario, he's a goodie two shoes with a heart of gold. Why the HELL would anyone (especially us poor starving college students) drop $300 on a new camera when we can just get a new one for free by 'breaking' our old camera. Fackin' n00bs I swear...

I dont know how they are with cameras, but when i wanted a new iPod, and my service plan was about to run out in a month or two, i just ran the battery completely dead. I went in and told them it would hold a charge, the screen is unreadable a lot of the times and the volume fluxuates. They didn't even check anything, just pulled it out of the package and tried to turn it on, then they just told me to go over to the small electronics area and pick out a new one. So I traded in my 10 gig iPod, for a 30 gig iPod photo, and only had to pay the 50 dollar difference in price.

Heres what I do.

Before you break it, call Best Buy and tell them that it broke, and how it broke. And then if it isnt covered, call another Best Buy with a different broken camera story until you find the story that wins you a new camera. When they tell you its covered, tell them youll be in that day. Then break the camera in the fashion that you explained. Make sure you go in that day so the person that answered the phone is still there.

Win.

Best Buy is cool, the geek squad are absolute idiots. I took my computer in when I was out at college and they wouldn't put in a new video card to see if that was the problem or not. They told me that the was something wrong with the motherboard and I would have to send it in... Only I knew it wasn't the motherboard, as the computer was fine except for when the video card was in. After aruging with them for about 20 min about why they couldnt do these simple tasks that I asked to see if it was the video card, I just decided to take it back and fix it myself. I ended up just sending the card into the manufacturer instead, and lo and behold it WAS the video card. So, the geek squad waisted about 3 weeks of my time because they are retards.
